Eternabond

I was thinking about putting Eternabond tape along all the seams and around any place on the roof that has caulking. No leaks - just thought this may be a good preventative measure. What do you think ?

odor in black tank

A friend of mine has a order in his tank that he can't seem to get rid of. After every camping trip he flushes his black tank until it runs clear. He has put ice inside of it and drove around trying to break loose anything that may be stuck. He says the funny thing is that when he flushes the toilet that he doesn't smell any odor coming up through the toilet - but the smell is coming from somewhere. I said well let's go to the experts - so any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Camping at Cades Cove

My family and I would like to go camping at Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountains. I have a few questions. Even though I am fully self contained - when would be the best time to go - not to hot/cold. I know with the elevation there - temps can change quickly. Also our camper is 36ft in length - is the campground big rig friendly ? Thanks for any input.:)

Help with steps

Question - I know that most (if not all) RV entry steps are black in color. I was wandering if there was a way that I could illuminate or light the steps to make them easier to see in the dark when entering/exiting the RV. I was thinking of putting a light to shine on them but the only problem is attracting bugs and I don't want that. I also thought about glow in the dark tape but wasn't sure if that would work either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: .

First thing - Remove spare tire from bumper and toss in the back of your truck bed. Those spare tires are quite heavy and cause alot of additional bouncing. Ours had a plastic insert that I removed. BY removing the insert I was able to use plastic tie down to secure the bike wheels to the bumper along with several tie downs across the bikes to hold into place. We can carry 2 bikes safely without any issues.

RE: Bugs, bugs and more bugs...

Read an article in a magazine the other day that said the best way to keep mosquitoes at bay was to put Listerine mouthwash in a spray bottle and spray all around. Not sure how it would work but at least your campsite would be minty fresh !!!!!!:B

HELP with Bicycles !!!!!!

Ok I'm turning to the pro's here - I need help. Here is my problem - I have a 36' Fth wheel that I'm needing to carry 4 bikes on. Our camper has one of those rear bumpers that slide out (big mistake by the mfg if you ask me - I noticed they done away with it on the 2011 models) The bumper only extends (slides out) enough to carry 2 bikes. What I've done in the past is carry the other 2 inside. I really dont like doing that because sooner or later I'm sure some GOOFBALL is going to bowup/pullout in front of me and I know that moving bikes inside a rv is not a good thing. So after myself and several other folks looked at it we decided to leave the bumper in and add some u-bolts (welded) to the main frame coming down each side of the slide out track. All looked good so I go and purchase a rack that would carry 4 bikes (good quality) and attach a 2" receiver to the bumper add bikes and now I'm set to go. So off we go leading the pack on our family vacation to the beach when my buddy behind me says " those bikes are boucing 6-10 inches every time I hit a bump". Less than 10 miles later we are in a parking lot putting 2 bikes in back of truck and the other 2 inside camper. So I'm wandering - is there just to much bounce on the back of a longer camper to be able to carry 4 bikes ? Is there a way of going vertical - up instead of out ? Just not ready to give up yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
