RE: Backup Program Opinions?

We use ClickFree to backup our two desktops and two laptops. I bought the 1T external drive that comes with ClickFree. It backs all our computers we are using our home WiFi. You just set it and forget it. I saw a demo at an FMCA rally given by Philip May of TechnoRV. You can go to his website and see the Clickfree. I think I've seen it at Amazon as well.

RE: Kick start so to speak , your Android GPS hint

Thanks for this tip. My husband and I both downloaded the free version. It really helped my husbands Droid X. We use Endomondo app every morning when we walk. It calculates time, length, elevation gain. My Droid Razr picks up the satellites in a couple of seconds, his older phone is very slow to find the satellites. Sometimes he has to turn in off and on to get the fix. Now it picks them up very fast. He is very happy!!

Thanks for the great Google Maps Labs settings tip. I'd never looked into the settings in Maps!

RE: Yosemite Camping "Insider" Help

We have a class B - Roadtrek 210 which is 22 ft. We have camped in the valley many times. We made our reservations on the internet site. Because we have a Class B and it is easy for us to move we sometimes stay in a couple of different sites. We may get three nights in one site and then move to another site for a couple of nights. Really depends on availability. The web site is not as convenient as it used to be. A year or so ago when someone cancelled their site it because available again on the web site. I understand that cancelled sites now are only available via the reservations phone number. Study the campground maps and get an idea of your preferred area. If you are having trouble getting sites on the web then call.

RE: Ear buds for use with Android phone - music and call

I have a Droid X and Razr and use JLab Audio jbuds j5m metal ear buds with microphone. They work with htc, iphone and blackberry as well as Droid. I really like them. I got them at Amazon for $35. I tried the ear buds with mic for an iphone and they don't work with the Droid. I keep the JLab ear buds in my car to use while driving (if important). I don't like those wireless bluetooth ear plugs. You have to remember to charge the bluetooth plugs.

RE: "Free" moble Hotspot App for Android

Barbara, is it possible the your connection is bouncing between 3G and 4G? I have had this happen when just using my cell phone and browser when the signals has been switching between the 3G and 4G. Thanks, I'll try it on 3G and see what happens. I also dropped a note to the developer. I also have a $20 Verizon accessory for my Droid that you can rest you cell in while it charges. So I use it at night as a clock with large numerals. I can see the time at night and the phone is charged in the morning. It can also charge your phone while you use it to listen to a radio station, stream Netflix or use my FoxFi hotspot!

RE: "Free" moble Hotspot App for Android

Thanks for the heads up on this neat new app. I installed it on my Droid Razr with 4G and it works! I also logged into my new hotspot using a Nook Color and Nook Touch. Works fine. I got a phone call while using FoxFi and I answered and the hotspot kept working. I am having trouble with certain web sites. I'm trying to get on www.barnesandnoble.com and it keeps working but the site doesn't download. Some sites come right up and others just don't. Any ideas what's happening?? Thanks.

RE: Mobile Internet Option

We have used Autonet in our Roadtrek for almost 2 years. It uses the Verizon signal and we've had excellent service. We've traveled all over the US during the period we've had the Autonet. Last May we were in Mesa Verde NP campground and had little Verizon voice service. But the Autonet picked up our email. If you go over your set usage amount they never charge you.

RE: Boy did I make a mistake!!! (droid)

I just upgraded from the Droid X to Razr. I just went to the App Brain and PDAnet is now available there. Actually, I use AppBrain instead of Market. But it is also now available in the Market. Since I had quite a few apps I wanted to download that were on the X I just went to App Brain and they keep a list of your apps and you can just go through the list and download the ones you want from your computer. It is very fast. App Brain uploads the one you choose asap. I then tried PDAnet with my new Razr and it works great. Very fast with the 4G.

RE: Verizon does grandfather in 4G

We were in the Verizon store yesterday and they offered us an early phone upgrade. So I got the Droid Razr. Smaller and the 4G is faster than the Droid X. We still have our unlimited data plan. It works fine with PDAnet. What is this share the data plane with 4G someone mentioned?? Where do I look for it. Thanks.

RE: Best Smartphone that syncs with Outlook

schneid, I now use gsyncit and it works fine. But I do have to remember to chick on the sync button now and then. I originally tried Companion Link and had some issues. Returned it for a credit. Have you been using it long? I may try it again. Thanks for the post. Barbara NoCal

RE: PC infected with Gabpath

I'm a long time PC user and this is the first time I got something like this. I'm very careful. But stuff happens. I've taken the advise above and changed my Comcast email password. Hope that does it.

RE: Best Smartphone that syncs with Outlook

I'm an old time Palm PDA user. A couple of years ago I switched to and iTouch and Outlook. They worked beautifully together. Then I got a Droid X through Verizon. I have used Verizon for years so I didn't want to switch to ATT. The Android Operating system and Outlook are not particularly compatible. So I now sync my Outlook data to the my Google contacts and calendar using "gsyncit". And the Google syncs the info to my Droid. This works fine. Of course you know can get an iPhone which will sync directly to your Outlook. The calendar and contacts app in Droid is not as nice as the iTouch/iPhone app. Good luck, Barbara

PC infected with Gabpath

A couple of odd things happened with my PC in the last couple of days. Early Sunday morning I received about 40 "cannot deliver" emails. Included as sender was my primary email address and another "cyprious@juno.com". I don't know anything about the juno email address. I couldn't report the emails as spam because it was my email address. So I deleted them. This morning I received an email from a fellow I correspond with at Roadtrek Int'l saying that he had received several spam emails from me. He suggested I run Malwarebytes to find out if I have a Malware. I did run it and I have (now had) Gabpath a Trojan horse type malware. Malwarebytes deleted the Gabpath. Do you think there is anything else I should do to protect my PC. I use ccleaner and MS security essentials. And now Malwarebytes. Thanks.

RE: Using my WiFi Booster

If you live in a populated area you can test at home. The booster should show a list of wifi signals in your neighborhood. When I tested mine at home I checked the local signals I was receiving using my laptop before I attached the booster and then after I attached the booster. You can see the difference in signal strength.

RE: Nook or Kindle

Overdrive offers ebooks for both Nook (ePub books) and Kindle books. They just recently began offering library books for the Kindle. Overdrive also offers audio books. We often listen to audio books when traveling.

RE: Nook or Kindle

I think both Nooks and Kindles are good ereaders. You should handle both units to see which feels best to you. I have a Color Nook and a Nook Touch. I bought them both refurbished from Barnes & Noble. You can go into any Barnes & Nobel for Nook support. They come with a one year warranty. I use my Color Nook is good for reading magazines, cook books and travel guides. I like the Nook Touch for reading novels. It holds a long charge. The Color Nook only holds a charge about eight hours. Both the Kindle and Nook can be used to borrow library books. Also you can adjust the font size for easier reading. Less eye strain. You can read the Color Nook in a dark room because the screen is back lit. The Nook Touch is better for reading outside, less glare. Good luck. I love my Nook!

RE: Refurbished stuff?

I have bought refurbished Barnes and Noble Nooks. They look new to me. And you get a one year warranty with the purchase. I dropped one Nook and B&N sent me a new one and had me send the broken one back to them in the packaging from the replacement. Very easy. The Nook Color I have looks like new and works great. So I would buy refurbished again from known and respected vendors.

RE: Chrome to surpass Firefox market share by December

wettmeba, I like to send links from the internet to friends via email. If I read something interesting I may send it to a friend. In Firefox you just click on "send link". Can't do it in Chrome. But if you follow this link you can set up a workaround. http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/3024google_chrome_add_send_link_button_to_bookmarks_bar You can also just copy the news link you are trying to send and past it to the email you want to send.

RE: Chrome to surpass Firefox market share by December

I've been trying Chrome for a few weeks. I like much about it. But there is no way to send an internet page link to someone. I did find a workaround. Also I use several library sites and it doesn't save my log ins if they are only one line. Chrome does save the regular two line type of log ins. But if all the site asks for is your library card number Chrome doesn't seem to save it. Even if i start putting the number in, Chrome doesn't seem to recognize the number and complete it. So I hope Chrome continues to improve. For now I'm back to Foxfire.
