RE: Remote home temperature monitor

I use a freeze alarm I bought at a local big box home improvement store. It will call someone if the temp drops below 50 inside the house. Not very expensive as I remember. I also shut off the water and drain the water pipes. It's set to call my Son as there isn't much much I can do from 1500 miles away. We've tested it and it works great.

RE: Wana RV?

I looked into buying from them a couple years ago. Couldn't find anything bad about them on the internet. Had some great prices.

RE: 5th wheels with these requirements

Probably won't find what you want unless you go to a custom builder like New Horizons. Price will be well into 6 figures and you will need more than a pickup to pull it..Another problem will be finding an RV park that's open if you plan to stay somewhere that gets real cold. Most RV parks aren't setup for extreme cold weather.

RE: Doolie Conversion?

Yes, with the dually you have the same capacity.
I wouldn't worry about a silly door sticker..It doesn't make it tow any better.

RE: Which shocks?

Monroe PN# 555001 is the direct replacement for my Heartland. The way most of them are mounted almost horizontally I really doubt they do any good...If mine die I doubt if I will replace or miss them..

RE: Carryout & Vuqube Security

I have a Tailgater..same as a Vu Cube for the most part. I took all the "Dish Network and Tailgater" lettering off of it. Don't need some idiot walking off with it thinking that's all they need to get satellite TV.

RE: Nash vs wilderness

Wilderness in an entry level unit..Nash is not. Much better construction, insulation, and better quality in the Nash..

RE: 4wd for towing stability?

Tell your friend to start saving his money for the new transfer case he's going to need. No advantage at all in towing in 4wd.

RE: Clogged Toilet

Plunger won't do anything. Roll up yer sleeve and reach down in and try to stir it up a bit. Never leave the dump valve open except to dump. You need a lot of liquid in there to keep things "moving".

RE: 2008 Sierra 2500 HD Exhausted...

Try calling a few of the local muffler shops and see if any of them have a stock system they cut off to install one of those "Super High Performance Extra Loud No Power Increase Look At Me" systems on somebody else's truck..Can't beat the longevity and quietness of a stock system..

RE: air compressor question

I went to harbor freight and picked up a small 12 volt compressor that goes to 125 psi for $30.00. I replaced the plug-in with a trailer
plug so I can plug it in at the rear bumper and can reach the trailer along with my pickup. Lee.
I tried one of those and it died before it inflated the first tire. I returned it and went back to my tried and true 110 volt 30# portable.

RE: what low temps can you camp in???

i had my htt in temps as low as upper 30's at night with bunks out. no pop up gizmos, just the canvas bunk ends and sleeping bags. furnace kept it a toasty 70+ in the camper. my new bunk house has an artic package. i know it has a heated under belly but what else comes in the artic package and how low of temps can i camp. can i go yeat round with the temps in the teens? not that i would...just curious on limits
Arctic Package, Cold Weather Package, Blah, Blah, Blah...Most of them may give you some tank heaters, maybe a little extra insulation, maybe not..and...the all-important decal on the side and a lot of hype..A true all weather RV will have Double Pane windows for sure, very high insulation R values and a promise that it's been tested and will not freeze at below zero temperatures. The good ones will advertise this. If they won't make that promise in writing..you have just another ho-hum trailer with a decal on the side. It might be good for a little below freezing temps..that's about it..Sorry...

RE: Airbag pressures

Mine rides rough with too much air. Around 20PSI levels it out just fine. Their real purpose according to the manufacturer is to level the vehicle, nothing more.

RE: I Wish There Was An Aftermarket product for....

My guess is something like this would cost around $3,000 to produce and install. I bet you can't find 10 people that would buy it...It might be nice to have but I doubt you will ever see it. Just not enough volume to be profitable coupled with the fact that one size will not fit all. Might be close...but no cigar. JMHO

RE: Camper has lots of hail damage....now what

Thanks everyone for the quick comments and advice. I really didn't expect a total loss so I havent researched it much. After this I've done my research.
Our homes roof is ruined, siding has holes in it, 3 cars damaged, shed roof and sides damaged, as well as our camper tore up. It is quite the headache having everything damaged. I have never had an insurance claim but know the adjusters are not working for our benefit. So I appreciate all your suggestions and have taken your advice seriously.
Don't sell the adjusters short just yet. I was preparing to sell mine before it got totaled and found that I got around $1500-2000 more from my insurance than I could sell it for. It couldn't have worked out better in my case. Now if I could just figure out how to make it hail when I need it...

RE: Equal Wheel Balancing System?

What's wrong with using the proven and probably less expensive method of conventional balancing with weights? A lot of people are trying these "miracle cure" wheel balancing methods to try and cure a problem that doesn't exist. It would be very interesting to spin up a wheel with these beads and other stuff and see what a good wheel dynamic wheel balancer would indicate as to whether they work or not...Just sayin.
