RE: Sprinter Diesel - Propane Generator

I'm at a loss as to why the agony about a propane generator with a diesel engine.Exactly, David.
We have never had an issue getting propane or the frequency of need. It's a non-issue in my opinion.

RE: Need Info on Leisure Travel Free Spirit B

Leisure Travel (which we can't find around here), Pleasure Way and Great West which we can't find are our 3 choices for what we think would fit our needs. Those are the exact three that we had narrowed our choice down to in 2005 when we bought our LTV. I have seen a lot of all three brands and think they are all three equal in quality and also equal or better than any other on the market.
Our choice came down to a few features that LTV had and the others did not at the time.
We saw and drove an LTV at a Charlotte dealer back then but I just checked their website and they do not even carry class Bs any more. We did the same with Pleasure-Way at a Boone dealer but the couple that ran it retired and closed the business. Great West was nowhere to be found anywhere near NC. We ended up buying our LTV at Van City RV in St. Louis because we got the best deal there.
If you are serious about a class B, it would almost be worth a trip to the Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally in Ohio and drop in on Saturday to see about forty class Bs of all brands and talk to their owners. :)
We keep our LTV in Ashe County and occasionally have it in Raleigh where we live. I don't know where you are in NC, but as NCWriter offered we would be glad to have you view and kick the tires of our LTV if you were near.

NCWriter, thanks.I am still looking for a list of options for that year to determine value. Not sure if A/C,M/W,hitch,spare,electric bed, etc. were options or standards.
funtogo, send me your email address by RV.net private message and I will send you our Window sticker. It shows all the options and their price.

RE: Need Info on Leisure Travel Free Spirit B

Ditto what others have said. We have over 100K miles on our 2005 FreeSpirit that we bought new. That 100K miles includes two trips to Alaska and travel to 49 states (Hawaii is a challenge) and most of the Canadian provinces. It is a solid product and we have no complaints.
We have had the plastic resonator go out twice. Both were changed out under warranty. Even when it goes out, the Sprinter "limp home mode" avoided a bad experience. We now carry a spare that a generous RV.net member gave us that they had as a spare when they decided to replace it with a metal one.
Both the Sprinter chassis and the LTV conversion are excellent. I would not hesitate to take it on a long and remote trip now, like the Alaska trip.
If it has 30K miles and has been maintained as prescribed by Diamler, I think $40K is an excellent price.
Our blog (signature) tells most of our travel story.

RE: 2012 Pleasure Way Plateau TS. All thoughts needed!

I'd like to hear Asheguy's take on LP in regard to driving to Alaska and back since we plan to do that.I see applegater has already beat me to it, but I second his comments. Propane has never been a problem either in frequency of needing refills or in finding it. We do use our A\C with the generator when we stop for lunch in warm climates but neither the use of gas for the furnace or A/C has caused us to view the need for refilling the propane tank as a problem.
I'm impressed that applegater took his Sprinter to Pruhoe Bay. Not that I would have any concern with the Sprinter doing it but that the road is not exactly a highway. :) I toyed with the idea of doing it but didn't want to drive that far on an unpaved road. My first trip to Alaska had about that much gravel road on Canada 37 coming down through British Columbia on the alternate to the Alaska Highway, but on the last trip it was almost all paved (I was surprised). Of course 5 years had elapsed in the interim.

RE: 2012 Pleasure Way Plateau TS. All thoughts needed!

Davydd is an expert on Sprinters having owned two of them and done extensive travel in both.
We have a LTV Free Spirit 2005 model that we bought at Van City RV in St. Louis. You might check them out. We got a much better deal then we could get in NC and they pay to fly you out to pick it up. They are a high volume dealer and carry several brands including Pleasure-Way and Leisure Travel. We finalized a deal with them over the phone and there were no surprises when we went to pick it up.
We have over 100K miles on our LTV in the six years we have owned it and we have been quite pleased with it. Check our blog in signature for our travels including two trips to Alaska.

RE: 2012 Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9)

There have been a couple of inquiries from those that have paid their registration fees with concern that their check had not been received due to notices about unpaid registration fees. Click here for an updated attendees list. If your name is not in red, your registration fee has been received and you are good to go.

RE: "NEW" to us 2006 Leisure Travel Free Spirit LSS

Ours is one year older than yours and we love ours, we have just over 100K miles on it now including two trips to Alaska, all US states but Hawaii and most of the Canadian provinces. It's a great touring vehicle.
Had to replace the front brake rotors, pads and pad sensors at 75K miles and it cost $450 at a Dodge dealer. Oh, and I always use lower gears when descending hills/mountains. Had to replace the turbo resonator twice (both under warranty) and now carry a spare.

RE: LTV Shower hose clips

We got replacements like your photos from LTV back at one of their rallies before they were bought out. Haven't had a need to check with LTV since Wally is gone so can't speak to their current responsiveness but they were great.

RE: What is with used prices?

I find craigslist great for selling something like an old refrigerator.I always sell my old autos instead of trading them in when replacing them. I used to use the local paper and that wooked well, but that avenue has imploded so I have sold the last two on craigslist. Both sold within a week and with significantly higher prices then what the dealers offered if I traded them in.
RVs are a different issue though since craigslist is more local so ebay or the other online sites might be better with a broader customer base.
I wouldn't sell craigslist short though. When (if ever) we decide to sell our Class B I'll probably try craigslist first.

I use Belarc Advisor.
It will give you a profile of your entire computer with product keys for all software.

Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Compressor for LTV Class B

The air spring compressor stopped working on our LTV this summer but I just got around to finding a replacement since it doesn't leak enough air to need the compressor very often. Our LTV had a Firestone model "850" compressor but searching online found no reference to this model compressor.
I did find a replacement after calls to Firestone/Ride-Rite and then to a parts outlet for Ride-Rite so I thought I would save someone else from a similar search by posting this info here. Firestone gave me several parts suppliers but SDTruckSprings.com was a winner. They also did not have any reference to the Firestone compressor in our LTV but after me sending photos and their contact with Firestone I have a replacement model on the way. Their prices seem good and they have free shipping.
The mount is a little different but I think it will work in the space available. Here is what replaces our Firestone model "850" compressor:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee209/asheguy/FirestoneRide-RiteCompressorReplacement.jpg
The duty cycle is so low for this application that this appears to be the least expensive compressor Firestone makes for Ride-Rite.

RE: Roadtrek RS Adventurous and Gulfstream Vistacruiser MB

Never had a problem with the CCC on my Vista Cruiser.Ditto for us on our I5 Sprinter.
Those that question the I5 Sprinter CCC limit usually are not owners. I weighed ours when fully loaded for a 6-week trip and still had 1000 lbs for people and whatever. Never been a problem with exceeding the CCC nor handling during our 100K miles of use. Maybe some conversion brands are heavier but our I5 Sprinter LTV has plenty of carrying capacity for us.
And I agree with Chirpnchicks that the seating on our I5 Sprinter is more comfortable for long trips than any auto we have had.
Lastly, we agree with wanting a unit with the refrigerator off the floor. It was one of the deciding factors in our choice of floor plan.
All have their own varying wants and needs of course.

RE: 2012 Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9)

Total registered Class Bs for B9 now stands at 38. Pleasure-Way has surged to the lead in conversion brand. And Ontario is second only to Ohio in most participants from a state or province. Must be that Brusselers reunion thing. :)

"Another Reason to Own a B" is that it makes one eligible to attend the Annual RV.net Class B Rally. :) Click on that link or b-rally.org for more info. Thirty one RV.net members are registered but only one that has not been to a rally before. Come meet some fellow CVC forum members and get a look at a large range of Class B RV types.
Sorry McK, I couldn't resist.

RE: Sleeping 3 adults in Class B?

Here's the 3rd bed made up in our Leisure Travel FreeSpirit 210B 3S that I am sleeping on tonight. I am 5' 6" and would not recommend it for anyone taller but it works just fine for me. This is the second time I have used this bed for myself on a 6-week trip. I have used the full size bed in the back for two teenage boys on both trips. For teenagers, the queen/king bed in the back can be used as two twins without the table to fill in the gap. That makes setup much easier (just fold down the sofa. For adults, they would probably want the normal full bed setup.
Our model is a 2005 conversion and I haven't followed how the newer LTVs handle a 3rd bed option. But in this model on the Sprinter chassis, three adults can be accommodated if the third adult is short.
As you can see in the photo, the side door is partially blocked as mentioned by previous posters but one could get out if necessary. And it's fairly simple to fold up the 3rd seat to make to door fully usable if necessary. But we have never had the need in the total of twelve weeks of use to need to exit. I am the last to bed and the first up.
Just a side note, tomorrow the odometer on our LTV will cross the 100K mileage threshold.
