RE: How long will my battery last?

Well, I check a gas refer on the Norcold site and it was 1.2 amps at 12 wolts dc using gas. On 120 vac it was 3.0 amps.
Two 12 vdc batteries in parallel might make 5 days, but I wouldn't trust it.

RE: How long will my battery last?

If it is truly 3 amps (and I doubt that) 3 amps X 24 hours X 5 days = 360 amp hours. Answer is NO. Typical deep cycle battery may last 50-75 amp hours.
I would think the drain would be more like 1/4 amp at most.

RE: AC quit

Similar problem here. My compressor just stopped running as it was being used. Fan inside and outside kept running. Turned out it was a failure in the control board. $25 part and $175 labor.

RE: Hitch Ball Question

If it is a "standard" hitchball, it is make of ordinary steel and coated with some combinatin of chrome and nickle. Use will wear off the coating and it will rust. No big deal. Just grease before use. I also wipe clean after use and apply grease. I like white lithium grease.

RE: Funny thing at camping world today

The TC is rarely seen here in the South. Fivers are the king, with C's next, and then the ultimate: THE A. Yes, I own an A and it is perfect for my style of RVing.

Replacing tires

I posted the below once before but didn't get any manufacturer names. Thought I'd try again.
I need to replace the tires that came on my MasterTow tow dolly. They are Carlilse ST205/75 D14 Sure Trail. Apparently bias ply as per the Carlisle website. They did not wear very well for the miles or wear very even.
Any recommendations will be appreciated.

RE: Hauling Water

I have been to a remote state park where the water smelled horrible. We always carry jugs of drinking water, but I didn't even want to shower in that water. Glad I always have my freshwater tank full of hometown water whenever I leave home. My Class A has a 75 gal tank.

RE: Air Conditioning unit

Most of these units are sealed and a HVAC tech has to install a fitting to allow them to be charged.
For your 7 year old unit, I would put the money that I would spend on adding fittings toward a whole new A/C. The labor rate for RV service here is $62.50 per HALF hour.

RE: How to dispose of a couch?

Call a charity like Salvation Army. They may offer to pick it up.

RE: My water pressure drops off fast!

I would say you have a restriction somewhere. Have you looked for, and checked, any filters in the water line? Maybe there is a filtration cartridge that is partially plugged. Maybe there is a plugged screen in the line somewhere.

RE: We're thinking of getting a couple of bikes??

Sometimes we just take the bikes, sometimes just the toad, and sometimes both. Go to Cabela's website and search for "2" Dual Receiver Hitch".
We have TREK bikes that are a combo of trail bike and road bike.
There are a variety of carriers. Start looking on the Camping World website. Check out all the styles to see what you like before you buy. Go to your local bike shop and see what they have.

RE: Fl gulf coast with dog

In my many years of camping and visiting the Floria Panhandle, I have seen "No Dogs Allowed On Beach" on all beaches that I have been too. Now these were all public or state park beaches so maybe you can find a private CG.

RE: Any regrets or things to do differently moving to class A?

We are a twice a year road traveler for a week or so, and a weekend camper the rest of the time.
Ater 7 years in a Class A, and always comparing what I have with other RVs, I'll stay with my A.

RE: RV Parks and Internet Speed

From my expeience, WiFi at RV parks has been seriously limited in speed due to:
1. All the users at peak use time such as after 5pm.
2. Distance from tower(s) as few parks I have been at have multiple towers.
About half the time I just give up and do something else than surf.
When you go to McDonalds or Starbucks, you are not competing with dozens of users for bandwidth.

Since we don't dry camp, 99% of our generator time is on the road with A/C running.

RE: Transmission failure and 26% grades

26% grade!!! That's not a typo? I wouldn't tackle any grade over 10-12% (depending on how long the grade) with my MH. I have never had a problem going up (it's a 8.1L gasser) but it's the coming down that I don't have the brakes to be safe.
