RE: Lake Mead Camping

Lake Mead
They have "waterfront" sites... unfortunately, the water was way low in the reservoir take the shore line with it. It was pretty nice place and the RV sites were fairly new in 08.

RE: Eastwood thread??

If standing up for America is political then, I guess, it was political. Frankly, I liked it.
I liked it and think that it spoke for all of Detroit and the positive gains they have made over the last year.

RE: Colter Bay at Jackson lake vs Riverside at Whistler

I stayed at a hotel in Whistler village for a couple of days during the summer. Now that I think about it, I have not been back to Canada since then (2002). I spent 4 nights at Colter Bay and would go back to Colter Bay again and again and again. Nothing against Canada but I love the Tetons and Yellowstone areas.

RE: Hilarious Chevy Truck ad!

They ad was funny and would have been funny had the roles been reversed. I don't understand Ford's public demands for removal as that brings futher attention to the ad.
I really liked the Eastwood ad. While the video only showed Chrysler products the words truely encompassed the entire American auto industry that is doing well and looks to have a prosporus future. I don't get all the nonsense about it being an ad supporting a political agenda.

RE: Use shade-tree body shop? or full-blown collision center?

My bother is a shade tree out of his house and the bulk of his work is from local dealers for repairing and painting the little bits like trim, mirror housings, and bumper covers on recent trade ins needing touched up.
Insurance? If you are clean there should be no rate hike. Then you are only out your deductible. Worth a call regardless of how you go.

RE: Dw upset

There is no way you get a new trailer becuse of a greasy finger print or funny looking trim. If this is your first RV, be prepared for more issues than you have found.

RE: Death Valley Campgrounds?

I spent 9 days there in March 08. I spent 3 nights each at Sunset, Stovepipe, and Mesquite Spring. They are all dry camping with Mesquite Spring being the "typical" campground layout where Sunset and Stovepipe are closer to parking lots. Each CG has a dump and fresh water fill station. I don't recall much if any boondocking suitable for TT traveling. Stovepipe Wells has a very small section of the parking lot with first come first serve hookups. I thought Xanterra managed Furnace Creek had powered sites but can't verify that now and it looks like something has changed since I was there.
I don't recall having any generator noise issues and enjoyed chatting with others after our long days of exploring.
The place is enourmous so moving your base camp can save about 50 miles per day of driving. I was rolling about 80-100 miles a day on my dualsport motorcycle.

RE: An Automatic 10% Increase In Fuel Economy For Everyone

I highly doubt the added fuel eco theory but I have had fuel weeping out of the filler on a warm day after fillling up in the morning. So yes, the gas can and does expand when the temperature increases.

RE: Any of you ever buy a truck from an auction?

Bought my truck off ebay. Duallys are cheap in TX and very expensive and hard to find in Seattle (back in 04). Would do so again to save thousands but it depends on the situation.

RE: Trade in or Sell

I'll presume TX charges sales tax on the price difference. If your C has some reasonable value as a trade in, the sales tax savings could make a trade in more valuable than selling it yourself.

RE: New or Used TT?

I won't tell anyone how to spend thier money. For me, I've only owned two new cars and 8 used cars. Both my TT's were new. TT's are not all that expensive and quality units that are well taken care of retain decent value.
No way in hades would I buy a brand new DP when a nice used one can be found for less than half the new price after about 5-7 years.

RE: Selling DP, new tires or not?

I would not go buy new tires. A new RV'r might be to excited to even notice. A seasoned RV'r might have a preference for one tire brand or another.
Set your price high enough that you can adjust it to allow for buyer allowances. Kind of like the house needs a new roof after its inspection so just knock 15K off the asking price.

RE: Is HD TV That Important

Back when I had Dish, I found the regular signal was pretty darn good and that the HD was better but it was not a huge difference. Now that were are back to cable (yuk!), the difference is huge from the regular to HD channels.

RE: Honda EU2000i - 49 State vs 50 State Difference?

Good question. I wish mine had a fuel cap that could be closed to prevent vapors when unit is stored. It's the only reason I don't carry it inside. The Honda 2000 has a fuel cap that can be closed.

RE: 3 must see places in Olympic National Park

It's been a long time since I've been out that way but Hurricane Ridge, Hoh River, and Cape Flattery are memorable. Cape Flattery is really neat with the high cliffs and crashing pacific way below and the fact that it's the most NW point in the lower 48 is cool.

RE: Oregon Toys, and riding...

Oregon is the biggest nanny state I have ever seen. We took a car trip to San Francisco during the Christmas break and stopped at Seven Feathers for some gas and I told my 17 year old son to go get me a Monster energy drink. He comes back empty handed and tells me you need to be 18 years old to buy an energy drink. Oregon is Friggin ridiculous with their nanny state laws. I won't bore you with the helmet laws and skateboarding at Fort Stevens. Apparently parents in Oregon are the dumbest people on the planet that can't be trusted to take care of their own children.
