RE: Suburban DD-17dsi heater

My money says it's the circuit board not opening the gas valves. You can put a test light on the wire going to the valve to see if it's being energized but I'll bet it isn't. When it tries to light do you smell gas at the exhaust? New board is about $110 (parts only).

RE: Suburban DD-17dsi heater

One more thing since I first posted. After the fan comes on, the igniter, I assume, clicks repeatedly, stops, clicks repeatedly again and I think does it a third time before it gives up. The clicking sound you are hearing is the igniter trying to light the burner. If it is trying to light the burner the sail switch is operating correctly.

RE: Water Heater install on Passport (Keystone)

Reasons for no voltage across the electric element: - switch on the back of the unit itself off. - switch somewhere in the kitchen area for electric hot water heat off. - circuit breaker tripped. - element was on with water heater empty, burned out. Mine doesn't have a drip tray. I couldn't have said it better myself!

Good news for a change - nice to hear.

RE: solar panels mounted on rubber roof

Some people mount them on the AC shroud to avoid more screws in the rubber roof, then run the wires down through the roof vent.

RE: Another dumb newbie question re inverters

Well it sounds like docj has something special going on but if the inverter was on all the time you would run the batteries dead pronto! Try docj's way and see who is right. Good luck!

RE: Suburban DD-17dsi heater

It could also be the sail switch - tapping on the fan cover may jostle the switch enough to where it closes but your timing has to be right, it you wait too long after the blower fan starting it will think it took too long for the fan to get up to speed and not attempt to light. The other thing it could be is the fan motor, if the bearings are tight it will not spin up to full speed and therefore not close the sail switch. You can check that by turning the fan (with it off) and see if it feels tight, little "notches" when it's turning is ok, that's the magnets.

RE: The Slide Out Is Fixed!! The Slide Out Is Fixed!!

I had a Winnabago earlier this week with hydrolic slides, one room went out a few inches then stopped and nothing would work - slides, jacks nothing. I checked all the usual things and called the factory, told them what I had and he told me how to get the room in and what needed to be replaced as a perm fix (shuttle valve) in less than 5 min. It's a beautiful thing when you get the right person on the phone that speaks the same language (RV tech talk) and knows what they are talking about. Oh yeah, this coach had threaded rods to manually pull the slide in but he had used them a year or so ago and didn't know they needed to be screwed back out before operating the slide - result; manual system busted - take it to the dealer to be fixed.

RE: Another dumb newbie question re inverters

a) What is an inverter? b) How do I turn it on? c) When would I use it? d) Do I need to use the generator to use it? a) An inverter takes 12 volts DC and changes it to 110 volts AC, opposed to a converter that takes 110 volts AC and changes it to 12 volts DC to run 12 volt appliances and charge the battery. b) It's hard to say on your coach how to turn it on, most likely a switch near the generator switch on the control panel. c) You would use it to power 110 volt appliances for a short time - an inverter will drain batteries very quickly. Maybe needed during quiet hours when generators are discouraged but you want to watch TV? d) No, the generator is not needed to operate the inverter. SOMETIMES the inverter and converter are a combo unit but they may also be separate.

RE: How to get antifreeze into PUP pressure-side H2O line

OR, if you have access to a pump of any kind you could build a rig to pump the antifreeze into the camper. I built a rig with an old salvaged camper water pump (which is a bonus because the pressure switch assist me in winterizing Park Models and also get antifreeze into the city water hookup. I mounted my pump on the lid of a 5 gal bucket and ran a hard (PVC) pickup down to the bottom of the bucket and make a hose for the pump output to the city hookup. That may be overkill for your single faucet set up but that's another way.

RE: cyclone second AC install

I'm not familiar with your Cyclone 3010 other than to know it's a 5er toy hauler. I don't know if yours has 30 amp or 50 amp service. If you have 50 amp service look in your breaker box to see if there is a breaker labeled for a second AC. If there is then you should have the wiring already in place for the AC and all you have to do is remove the vent and install the AC - I may be making that sound easier than it really is but if you are handy you can do it. If no wiring exist then it's a little harder but not un-doable. I have run surface conduit for the romex to the basement and run a separate (20 amp) power cord to the pedestal. This way you will not have to upgrade your breaker box or try to pull wires inside the roof or walls (nearly impossible). Either way, I suggest you have it professionally installed, you will be much happier with the result.

RE: Would a long bed been a better choice?

No, it's just better to not let kids play with guns. Okay, lets be honest here, who didn't see that coming, I mean come on, they're rockets...!

RE: Automated Dump Fee Collector!

On the other hand, it likely means that a basic service that didn't cost will become something that gets charged for, another way to nickel and dime visitors. I won't be surprised when that $5 turns into $20 or more in a year or two. Check your water bill at home, I'll bet that the majority of bills will have sewage charges. They usually charge that based on your water consumption (because who really wants to meter your waste water?). It's not free to process it so why should dumping it be free? I'll also bet dollars to donuts that any business that has a dump station is being billed extra for it - that is, unless the governing agency doesn't realize that it exist.

RE: Roof ladder

Wow, I'm amazed that not everybody would gladly spend the $100 for the ladder. I am just over 200# and climb them on my customers campers every day, the only ones I have seen broken were due to backing into something and I've never had a customer ask me not to use their ladder. You didn't say how big of a rig this is but think about this, where are you going to store a step ladder, or even a straight ladder and how much is that ladder going to cost? I'd guess well over $100 for anything that will last more than two times. I do carry ladders with me and I have to take care to make sure the roof does not get damaged when I lean it up against the camper (for those campers that do not have one mounted). My $.02 is to pay for the ladder.

RE: Jayco Seneca Full wall slide hang up

At the risk of stating the obvious, have you looked for obstructions like open cabinet doors? I have seen more than one slide damaged by a little cabinet door.

RE: Wal Mart @ exit 183 I-5 Seattle

I'm assuming this is why some local juristictions outlaw overnight RV parking in retail store parking lots. No, local governments do this because they don't make any money when people park for free, push them to the CG and they get taxed and the city makes money. Maybe these people have an arrangement with that WM where they do some work for them or something like that and that's why they are in the back part of the lot. Please don't condemn until you have walked a mile in their shoes and you know the whole story.

RE: CG Host Directions When Parking - No Thank You

I trained a lot of people to drive tractor trailers while in the Air Force. Even though a spotter was required, the driver was ultimately responsible so I always taught my trainees to back without a spotter because the time would come when they would not have an extra person. Any time I backed a trailer I would tell the spotter to yell if I was ready to hit something but otherwise not worry about giving directions. Here is the other thing I learned quickly, the shorter the trailer, the harder it is to back - shorter turns quicker, longer is more forgiving with turns.

Bob, good for you! There is a lot of "behind the scenes" that goes into any production and you are doing your part to help this family. I hope everything goes very well for you! Eric

RE: roof AC's

Hang on a minute, does it shake also? It shouldn't be THAT loud. It could be a mud dobber or wasp nest on the fan putting it out of balance.
