RE: Sea eagle boats

I have read that the typical life of the seams on most of these is about 6 or 7 years, although some people get way more than that. But until they become unrepairable, they seem to do the job well and have plenty of happy owners. Saturn is another similar brand. If you need something compact, you'll probably appreciate having one of these.
I have been using my 8' SeaEagle for 20 years. Never had a failed seam, nor leak. I did try to install the wooden floor boards one frigid morning and pushed one through the bottom. Took it home, warmed it up and patched it with a piece of neoprene from a trashed float ski that I got from a dealers trash bin. Have been using it with this repair for the past 11 years. A great product!

RE: Marcus and his involvement here.

I seriously doubt Mr. L takes time to read this forum. Thats what you hire secretaries to do and handle the problem. AND to let you know if there's anything needing further personal attention for the sake of good PR.
Welcome to the Forum! Actually, he does spend time on the forum daily, as per a conversation we had at the last Rally in Phoenix. Granted he does have others that help in other forum areas.
I agree that Marcus has set the standard for CEO involvement with its customers but as per the comment by the original poster, there is no way I would want to be in those shoes!

RE: Wave 6 installation

Yes Bryan, I installed my unit into a cutout, below my entertainment center. I used the optional chrome mount bezel fora more finished look. After using it several days, I noticed the wood above the heater was dark and discolored. Too much heat was migrating up from the heater. I solved this problem by mounting two screws into the chrome bezel, leaving them out about one inch. Then I used a small insulated cookie sheet that had a raised lip on one end. I wedged that into the screws and it's now acted as a heat deflector that actually pushes the heat out from the face of the heater.

RE: why we love Mexico

Well, once again what started out as nice description of one's travels, has degenerated into a pissing match between posters. This is happening so often lately, that a once entertaining and informative forum is now a testosterone charged, chest thumping, mine is bigger than yours diatribe, that I am thinking of finding a friendlier place to hang out. Funny thing is, if we got all these heroes around a campfire, chances are they would not only be civil to each other, but downright friendly.

RE: Re-coating a MH roof - What did you use?

Since you will probably never need a drill that big again, go to your local rental shop and rent one of their big boys. That way you will only have to invest in the stirrer thingy!

X2 on les schwab! Best thing is they have lots of locations if you have a problem with one of their tires. I recommend buying in Montana, no sales tax there!

RE: 1976 Terry 21 footer

Welcome to the Forum Darrell! My first trailer was a 72 Terry and was the start of my long love affair with towables. I would recommend using the internet for information on any of the existing appliances, as the original paperwork and manuals from Terry wouldn't answer the questions you are asking. Another recommendation is to purchase Bob Livingstons' Trailer Lifes' RV Maintenance & Repair Manual. It's worth it's weight in gold and will save you $ in the long run. Make sure you have a solid floor and check your roof seams. Have fun and again, welcome to the Forum!

RE: Bad smell

Go to an Aquarium Shop and buy a bag of the charcoal they use for the water filtration. It is a much finer charcoal and will absorb bad odors faster. Many of the other suggestions above will merely mask the odor. Hopefully the source of the odor has been removed previously. Check behind any false walls to see if there is something dead back there. put the charcoal on some pie tins and place throughout the basement. Good luck!

RE: Late and in pain

Sorry you're having a bad night Dave. Hopefully the second sleeping pill has kicked in by now and you'll read this tomorow morning after a good nights sleep. I would suggest you talk to someone at the VA about your depression Dave. They can help. I know this from personal experience. Thoughts and prayers are with you Brother, and welcome home.

RE: Dish Network Question For Techies

Tex. we've been traveling for two years fulltime with our 722, in a closed cabinet no less, running pretty much 24/7 with zero problems. You might have gotten a bad batch of 722's. Might want to give them another try.
Not to hijack the thread, but Alpenliter, were you able to get the distant network waiver with the 722? I am going out FT on June 1 and I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with getting the networks (ABC, NBC etc).
Thanks,
Brian

RE: Dish Network Question For Techies

Good luck with the 722 in an RV, as it is NOT a rugged system and the road vibrations will kill it. We went through 2 of them before we went back to a 508 that is rugged enough to stand the road.

RE: New RV'r...today!

Congratulations LuAnne and welcome to the Forum! The first thing I would recommend for a new RV'er is Trailer Life's Maintenance and Repair Manual. It not only will tell you how to fix anything that may go wrong, but will tell you how most everything in your RV works. It is money well spent. Enjoy your new motorhome and please don't hesitate to ask questions of the Forum members, There is a wealth of information here and we welcome your questions.

RE: Suburban water heater Pressure Relief Valve replacement

Welcome to the Forum! First and foremost, you need to make sure you in fact really need a new pressure valve. The valve will leak if the air cushion inside the water heater becomes saturated. Type in "restore air cushion in RV water heater" on your search engine for instructions on how to get the air cushion back. If that doesn't work, try flipping the valve lever, under pressure, quickly to see if perhaps some sediment hasn't lodged in there. If in fact you do have to replace it, get a galvanized piece of threaded pipe from Home Depot that will screw into the valve and use that to break the seal. Good luck with your project and again, welcome to the Forum!
