RE: Traveling w/ a pet, check this out

Without getting into it....the idea of eliminating a "breed" of dog based on inflammatory stories is ludacris...IMHO. Sorry to inform, but all Pit Bulls are NOT killers! I noticed this is posted on at least one other Forum....agenda??? Info???

RE: why we love Mexico

Im sorry....the idea that somehow those that cross the border are "Brave" and more informed than others is what "burns my butt". The thought that those of us who prefer to seek pleasures north of the border are "afarid", "chicken" or somehow are "whimps" is a misconceived perception. Id much rather you say you are "cheapskates" seeking an inexpensive destination rather than Pound your chest and suggest you are someone special for crossing the border. I hate to burst your bubble, but the US is 100 times more diverse than Mexico will ever be.
You can paint Mexico as pristine and idealic as you wish...I have NOTHING against those who chose to travel their BUT DONT be suggesting that those of us who have other idea's are "scared to death" .....for me thats not the case as Im sure its not for others. Ive been over the border by car, by plane and by ship, probably more than 50 times without ever having a single issue or problem yet at this time, Mexico has nothing drawing me across the border....Gee, I guess Im just too frightened!!!! Give me a Break!

RE: Poop there it isn't

This topic comes up now and again...for the record, we use our facilities, I prefer it to the nasty public ones. With that being said, this question isnt as bad as the practice of using the head for number 2 BUT not putting TP into it but rather balling it up and putting the TP into a bag and throwing the bag away as soon as possible. I know, unbelieveable, but that was a thread a couple years ago......gotta Love it!

RE: Benchmark RV Center, Sun Valley, CA????????

When I first purchased my current MH some 10 plus years ago, I took it to them because Camping World suggested them. I had not purchased the MH yet but I was able to leave the MH with them for about a week for a general overview with some specific area's I wanted checked. I wont bash them but I will say that in my 40+ years of using a credit card, they were the first and only ones I had ever disputed a Bill with....quite frankly, I refused to pay them for there incompetent PDI on the MH. Just as a sample, I had had the MH plugged in at my house and was doing much of the checking myself before taking it down to them, the ice maker was working just fine. Now of course I had to unplug the MH to make the trip down, the ice melted. Their report indicated the Refer was shot because there was water standing in the freezer. I asked if they plugged the MH in......NO! I had a minimum of 10 items on a list I gave them, that I knew were working.....they listed them as Not working. OK.....alot changes in 10 years and I know they seem well respected......Im not bashing, just offering my experience. I wish you well with your endeavors....:)
PS....I still have the letter I sent to them someplace around here...it wasnt pleasant!

RE: why we love Mexico

I always find it interesting on how some try to sell others on the virtues of Mexico? To think that one could not find the same peacefulness and tranquility within the borders of the US or Canada is completely false. It seems odd to me that at times those on this section of the Forum complain about us "Northerners" invading the postings on the Mexico Forum exclaiming all the great things that are Mexico yet this post invites it? In the end, its all about ones perception of things, Im Happy the OP and others have found their own "little heaven on earth"....but if its all the same to you, Ill stay on this side of the border.

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

Do you have a Multi-meter? Id start checking voltages.....be sure that your inverter/converter is working and charging your batteries while on Park Power. I dont have slides but can you start the coach with the slides out(would ensure alternator power and aquedate amps). Based on your rear slide working before(closer to your batteries) and now not working(drained the batt's) it seems to point toward electrical power especially since you can hear the rear slide struggling. Just throwing out thoughts.....good luck

RE: What do you leave on the toad?

In the 8 years that Ive had the "quick disconnects", Ive taken them off once. Ive had many ask me, "what are those bars on the front of your car?".....makes for a good conversation starter but of course the people asking are Not RV'ers.

RE: West Yellowstone question

Electric "only" sites at Baker's Hole(other than those host sites). Just for another option, outside of West Yellowstone in Idaho( a 20 minute drive) there are a number of options, Henry's Lake, water and electric......Red Rock CG, full service....Valley View CG, Full service.....to name a few. Have a Great time!!!

RE: Camping near Springfield MO

Not sure if your looking for a campground or someplace other than "Wallydocking" BUT, not far outside of Springfield on Route 65, there has to be one of the nicest/largest Rest Area's I came across in my Cross Country trip last year. The truck and RV area's are separate and it was by far one of the Beat Rest area's Ive come across. I was in a 37' MH with a toad and had no problem parking in their spaces. Just another option. Have Fun

RE: 50 amp 90 degree plug

I have one of these 50 amp Marinco adaptors, just be advised that if your RV receptable is NOT installed at just the right position, the 90 degree adaptor will not hang the way you think it will. I found this out after purchasing this 95.00 dollar item...mine is off 90 degree's. Of course I could attempt to turn the receptable on my MH but after carefully examining the project....it wasnt worth the effort. I still use it because it is a one piece formed Cord and it still relieves the strain...it just looks kinda funky. Just for kicks....I did see one on craigslist yesterday for 50.00(Ventura, Ca area) that had only been used twice!

RE: Wow... tire prices. And 16 vs 18 ply?

Just for the record, I always put Michelin's on my cars mainly because the price difference is minimal between other top brands. Brand loyalty aside, Im just of the opinion that Michelin's in the 22.5" size are over-priced.
I use to use Goodrich tires because they have a "Blimp"....oh, wait thats Goodyear and come to think of it, "Blimp's" dont have tires, do they? LoL :B

RE: FREE!

Im half tempted! Just live over the hill here in Ventura County and I have a perfect vehicle/truck for it, (96 Dodge V-10 dually with a grand total of 23,000 original miles :) ). Now, if only I had the motivation to actually do the work necessary to bring that "puppy" back to its days of luster.

RE: The Big Bang Theory

I had a similiar experience two years ago.....the explosion was so loud, my neighbor from across the street came outside to see what happened. This was on Superbowl Sunday.....amasingly as loud as it was(a 4 D Battery) there was NO damage to my battery compartment or the exterior. The acid wasnt Fun to clean up although the Baking Soda laundry detergent works great on neutralizing the acid.

RE: Wow... tire prices. And 16 vs 18 ply?

I want to be clear as a bell on this for sake of argument....I dont care how another spends his/her money on tires....thats a personal decision. I do say this, for this RV'er(meaning "me") whose tires rot before the tread gives out, purchasing a "lower price" tire in the sizes we are speaking of, worked out well, so far, for me! Once again, I dont endorse any tire over another, I dont predict your results will match mine...I only offer this as my results and what I paid. As far as Im concerned, I didnt compromise on ride quality either although that maybe as a result of a 32-34,000 lb Mh and arguably the Best steering stablizer on the market (Howard power center). As always, IMHO. :B
