Calvin has an appointment to go in next week Friday (the Dentist is in our area on Monday's n' Friday's, and since Monday is Memorial Day, Friday it is). So Harlee will pack his afternoon bag should the examination, x-rays, fuel, oil, tire presser, poop, I mean parachute checks goes well....

After which I'll leave Calvin (which he "AIN'T" gonna like) there to have his root canal done, then pick the boy up later in the afternoon when he re-enter's a state of conciseness! He'll probably still be float'in since he'd just gone through re-entry! .... BUT I'd like to ad, that he's gonna share his "Re-Entry Feel No Pain Med's" with his Pops!

Thanks for asking Sher! We have an appointment to see the Doc at 4:30 this afternoon.
Since we live our life primarily at night, I didn't notice that one of his lower K-9's had a light shade of grey to it till Monday afternoon. When I inspected the tooth, the top of the K-9 looked sort of as if it has a cavity (?). Which make me realize why he was licking his front teeth a whiles ago. I'd check to see if he got something stuck in his teeth, but never found anything! So, I guess I now know why! ... Calvin was licking his front teeth!
I've have a really good intuition that this is gonna be "expensive"! ... It always is, isn;t it? .... lol
Now I know how a wrestler feels while he's being beat up, and the other taq team keeps tagging each other so they could both have a piece of him! These two aren't letting me come up for air!
Oh BTW! I hope, should any of you are visiting a city located in the Sonoran Desert some day n' see an Hawaiian looking guy sitting with two black labs that look like this...

Susan, yup I know Harlee needs to lose a few pounds. I've already cut her food from a cup and a half to a cup (hill's cup, the one they give you 4 free) and only one chunk of chicken. I stopped adding the green beans because all she does is eat around it.
The thing with Harlee is she get's excited when it's time to eat, but as you know from a few weeks ago. She'll be her excited self, but as soon as I put the bowl down. She sniffs it, even leaving the chicken alone cept for a few pieces and walks away.
When we went to the Vet on Saturday, while the Doc was examining Harlee. Harlee showed discomfort (didn't like it) when she pressed her stomach.
Presently, I've cut Calvin's portion from 3/4 can to 1/2 can an a chunck of chicken.

Pops, I'm on the road right now and not on my home computer so I haven't kept up on this thread. But you are doing everything a good pet parent would do for their fur child. Having been through the same situation with some of my former dogs, just listen to your vet, and your forum friends, and feed her what she will eat. I know, I've boiled many a chicken breast in my lifetime with my fur kids. Sending healing thoughts and good wishes to all of you.

How is Harlee's weight?
Well it's kind of a good thing she needed to lose a few lbs.. But she lost 4lbs when we were at the Vet's on Saturday! She weighed in at 79lbs.

Ok. I think this was already recommended but here is what I have for you.
1. Consult your vet. No doubt this dog needs foods that can be digested easily.
2. When my dogs were aging, my vet recommended the following along with their normal food, which was always Purina brand. Mix 1 cup Uncle Bens Rice. Cook it.
Add some breast of chicken cut up in cubes. (I did mine on the grill) add some frozen veg. such as peas/carrots.
When you heat his food add this to the meat and he will love it.
I had one dog that had Lyme disease and another one that just passed was 16 yrs.

Presently we (the Vet and I) will more or less talk more if Harlee won't eat.
Harlee's been on a semi-annual blood work regimen since she's been on a daily dose of Previcox back in 2010. So she's monitored quite well, as well as the dogs are with me 99.9% of the day.
So right now I'm really happy she's eating! However, I'm still having to soak her feet in Epson Salt, and spraying medication on her front paw.
I'd say between Harlee and Calvin we've been to the Vet since last year, ..... Geez it's been so many times I can't remember!

Chicken & rice boiled in the broth from the chicken is darned near a cure all for a funky stomach. Glad to hear Harlee is eating your home cooking. :)
Thanks Cat, so am I! I'm cooking up more chicken right now before we head on to catch some Z's.
Right now I'm figuring on feeding Harlee 1/2 of the 1/2 chicken breast with about two cups of rice!
I'm tell'in you, these two Kid's are KILLING me! .... lol

Ok! She ate the chicken, rice and low sodium broth. So we'll see if she'll eat it again in the AM.
If this keeps up, I'll pick up another tray of chicken breasts and mix in a 1/4 breast with the rice.

Pops, She is a sweetheart!! My Lab/Mastiff, has had stomach issues in the past and would not eat his dog food, Also has runny stools, We were told by our vet to feed boiled chicken and white rice for dinner, and rice in the morning. Once he started a regiment of that and his stools got firmer, I re introduced portions of dog food. We also mix low fat cottage cheese with his dog food and sometimes plain old vanilla yogurt. One other remedy was Pumpkin filling!! Yeah, he liked it and it settled his stomach down, Good luck, I hope she gets better and gets backs to eating!! Mine is a senior (11) and 165 pounds,, so not eating is serious for him!!

I'm gonna make up the chicken and rice in a few minutes, so we'll see how it goes. Harlee use to like the organic low fat yogurt, but now she just turns her nose away from it! I have/keep a few cans of 100% pumkin for her, but I tried that last month and she won't eat that either.

There is a food called "Gentle Giants" that is produced under the direction of a CA dog rescue by that name. The rescue focuses on giant breeds and is run by Robin from the Batman series.

It's lower fat than many, so it shouldn't cause pancreas issues. I think some Walmarts carry it, though not mine. I know all Staters are carrying it. If it's not available where you are, they do online ordering. Anyway, it's something to consider.
Thanks Susan, when I wake up (really wake up, ma just droped off the rice) I'll see if it's avaiable locally. Because anything related to food, it's a trial an error type of situation, so ordering online is not going to work!
