RE: Up to Calgary, Canada

Why do US folk leave out our provinces? ie... Calgary or Toronto Canada instead of Calgary Alberta, Toronto Ontario.
We Canooks don't talk about St Louis USA, or New Orleans USA, or Phoenix USA or Orlando USA etc.
And then there is Niagara Falls New York or Ontario!
You have states and we have provinces.
Just wondering?

RE: refrigerator not lighting

Not sure what brand of fridge you have but here is a link to a great article with pics of how to clean a Norcold burner!
Cleaning a Norcold Burner
Rust can drop into the burner orifice and sometimes even blowing on it is enough to clean it out.
I mine last fall and I can;t believe how much the burner now ROARS!

RE: Bike rack dilema!

I replaced the rear bumper on our 5'er with a beefy 4x4 tube (stinky slinky storage) and added extra supports and "2" receivers.
Also had weld shop fab a bike rack that slides into the receivers. Solid as a rock with no rocking!
2 people can move the loaded bike rack from the receiver on the 5'er (in my case) to the truck receiver without taking the bikes off the rack. Has worked great for us. I have a second receiver rigged to the truck hitch as well, so again none of this rocking back and forth as we drive along.
Sorry no pics as RV still in storage.

RE: Why Is Gasoline Consumption Tanking?

docj
Thanks for the clarrification! There's a big differance, exporting crude vs refined fuel. I know we here in Canada are net exporters of crude and have been for years, much of it headed your way....yet we still get gouged...paid $1.25/litre yesterday here in SW Ontario. CDN $ is basically at par with US$, so we're talkin $4.73 per US gal! Not uncommon for us to see $.05 and even $.10 swings in price overnight..that's 18 to 38 cents per US gallon!
Diesel yesterday was also $1.25/litre.
Cheers.

RE: Campground near Langhorne, PA.

Morning Waterloo neighbour!
Its many years (20?) since we visited Sesame Place. At that time I recall camping in the Lancaster Pa area (Country Haven) and doing a 1 day commute. Lots to do and see in Lancaster area. Also Dorney Park in Allentown and of course Hershey Park.
Herrs Snack Food factory offers walk through tours and a fresh sample of warm potato chips.

RE: How to attach Hitch back on Rail???

Paul,
Not sure which Husky hitch you have.
I have a Husky 16k double pivot EZ Roller sliding hitch.
On the bottom of the sliding rails there are "tongues" with holes in them. The tongues fit into slots on the tops of the rails. A pin then slides through the rails and the hole in the tongue and a clip holds the pin. Sorry I don't have a pic.
Perhaps you might check the Husky 5th wheel hitch web site for pics.

Congrats on the new RV. A Dutchmen eh! Where in Ont are you? We're near Woodstock.
Only two more sleeps and the days start getting longer! You have to admit we've had a pretty easy Nov and Dec!
Have a great Christmas and then get the maps and camp ground directories out!

RE: Frig Won't Light

The burner may need a cleaning. I had a similar issue in Oct and a good cleaning had my old ('94) Norcold working like new!!!
Hope this helps.

I've had very good luck (very quiet) with Good Year "Gatorback" belt on my 03 GMC Duramax.
Check your with your nearest Goodyear Shop. I got mine through a heavy equipment parts dealer here in SW Ont.

Yes there needs to be a pin securing the latch on the ball AND make sure you cross (X) the safety chains under the tongue!

RE: DP Airbrake Question

The front brakes DO NOT have a parking function as has been explained well here thus far.
As cmarq says. DO NOT TRY TO DISASSEMBLE THE REAR AIR CHAMBERS AS THEY CONTAIN VERY STRONG SPRINGS UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE!!! Finally as the Texan has said...there should be an air fitting/quick coupler connection that tow truck drivers hook into to air up the system (> 90psiof course) to release the parking or maxie brakes. That air fitting may be in the back at the engine compartment as well.
Info on the make year and model of DP would help here.
Careful boosting if its a 24 volt system!
