RE: Why did you have a blow out?

The reason I had 3 tires let go is because they were Goodyears.
Boy that is a great explaination :S Considering there are 1,000's of MH running around with Goodyear tires on them. Maybe all of them should stop in their tracks and replace each one with ????????
I'm not to sharp but I think it would be very, very hard to have a blowout on another brand if you are running Goodyears:h

RE: Southwestern storm

Just a heads up for anyone coming through New Mexico. Another winter storm heading here (thursday night and friday) with very cold temps and snow. Suggest you closely check the road reports for I-40 and I-25 and secondary roads as they are anticipating road closures.

RE: tires

Can't help you on location of dealers but I had a blowout on my motorhhome last wed. and have been reserching new tires. I pretty much settled on Kelly. Mfg in USA, Set of 6 priced at $329 each. that is for 245/70R19.5 14 ply load range F. Goodyear price $465 ea. and Goodyear owns Kelly. Bridgestone priced at $425 ea.Hankook-$345 ea. Prices will probably vary in different locations(these are in Alb.) Whatever you do PLEASE do not buy any Chinese imports, Lots of bad reports. Also be sure to check mfg date on the tires as they do age even if not yet used.
For what its worth this is just my findings and your Patriot will use larger tires than my rig. I'm sure everyone has their opinions on tires as well as just about everything else ,but I thought you may be able to use my comparisons to help you decide. Good Luck:::

RE: Do portable washing machines travel well?

We transported our portable in the pickup (toad) when we went to Mexico. When we arrived at our destination we loaded it into the motor home. Never had any problems with it. Its an excellant machine. You shouldn't try to bolt it to the floor as it must be moved around close to water and drain(sink)when using it. Just be sure to secure it when you are transporting it. Only used it one winter and now have decided not to go to mexico due to the potential problems there. Just put it on craiglist for sale.

RE: RV Park recommendations for the South West?

Thanks all for your inputs. The Oasis in Vegas looks great! Trailer Village will work good too as it's near one of my destinations there in Roswell (my aunt & uncle).
As for Albuquerque's Balloon Festa, I'm going to be passing through that week and thought it would be nice to spend a couple of hours watching balloons and taking some photos. If there's no good rv parks available, or if there is going to be too much traffic or other hassles, we'll park someplace else.
How crazy do things get in Albuquerque get during that week, If you can't find any openings in campgrounds you might just go to Sandia Casino. Its about 5 miles north of I25-I40 Interchange. Its not to far from the balloon fiesta. Try to do this on one of the weekends when they have the mass accentions.
Albq gets pretty packed during the fiesta, but it's worth it::::?

RE: When is camping rates to high?

Just wanted to see if anyone agrees with me or if I am just being a tight wad. I camp a lot at private campgrounds and I think some of them are getting to exspensive with there rates
Don't know about tight wad, but certainly naive. Campground rates, just like hotels, resort rentals, and things like groceries, gasoline, clothing and other things are all driven by the marketplace, and the fact that you or I think it is too expensive is irrelevant unless we are part of a large market segment that thinks the same. If you are near a popular resort area and want amenities you can expect to pay much more than the woods in central PA (not knocking the woods - there is just less demand for lower priced land). If you want on the beach in Florida in the winter expect to pay more. We have paid from Zero to $410 per night for an spot to park our motorhome. We typically pay less than $30. Too expensive? Don't stay there.
I for one would like to know WHERE there is a campground in the US that charges over $400 per night:h

RE: Update on Beaudry / Lazydays in Tucson

Just received a letter from John Horton(Lazydays-President and Chief Executive officer) excitedly telling me about their new facility in Tucson formerly operated by Beaudry RV.
Quotes:
"Our Tucson Service Department is now open"
"We are very passionate about helping RVers ---"
"We look forward to bringing our culture and our commitment to customer service to Arizona"
"We'll be opening our campground and starting to sell RV's on Sept. 1, 20ll"
"Visit our website-Lazydays.com/Tucson===="
Wonder where they got my name and address as I have never had dealings with Lazydays....(Motorhome Magazine maybe???)

RE: Full Timers - 2nd Refrigerator & Ice Maker Ideas?

We have a small freezer in the space where the WD would be and a 2.7 refrigerator freezer under the built in computer desk we don't use (we have a lap top). We empty the refrigerator when on the road and the chest freezer will hold for up to 3 days before it needs to be plugged in but if you stop a CGs every night the refrigerator would be fine.
Denny
Ditto on the Small Freezer. We carry ours in the basement of our MH. Bought a indoor/outdoor thermometer with seperate monitor to keep track of the temps. Stays well below freezing for days.

RE: Ridiculously expensive Michigan SP's

I feel a little guilty after reading the state parks rates in other states. In New Mexico (Which has excellant state parks) we pay $14.00 a night for Elect & water hookups and most all have dumping stations. (For NM residents a yearly pass $l00.00 and its free camping or $4.00 per night for Elect and water.) I'm waiting for the hammer to fall when some politicians decide to double the fees.

RE: Home security system for protection while RVing

Permit?
The city where I live requires an alarm permit along with an annual $10 fee. This is issued by the local police department. Otherwise they will not respond to your alarm. I don't know what percentage of cities do this.
Along with the annual fee they require a form to be filled out with such information as alarm monitoring company (if any), people's phone #'s that can respond with keyed access, any dogs on premises with name and breed.
In Albuquerque you must get registered with the Albuquerque Police Department's "False Alarm Rduction Unit" They state that "Your participation in this program will help reduce false alarms and subsequent drain on public satety resources".(GIVE ME A BREAK!!!) ITS $25.00 WHAT A RIP-OFF
Failure to compy-up to a $500 fine and 90 days in jail. And you get fined if you have more than 3 false alarms in a year.

RE: honda crv for being towed

we have a 2007 Honda CR-V and I'v yet to tow it, know they are certified by Honda as 4 wheel down towable, and there's nothing in my owners manual about having to pump the brake pedal several times to remove air pressure, and our dealer is unaware of this added procedure.
We use the Brake Buddy system and part of it's set-up before towing is to push the test button 4 or 5 times to I guess get rid of the air build-up in the brake system.
I assume this takes the place of the person who said to pumpm the brake pedal several times to remove air in brake system.
Let me know what you think.
I've got the same setup as you both car and Brake Buddy and pushing in the test button as you do takes care of it all. Haven't had any trouble at all.

RE: Unusual campers

They have been on the road for a year now and started out in South America and traveled up to Alaska.
That's amazing! And what's even more amazing is they lived to tell about it. I can't imagine driving though Mexico these days without an armored vehicle and a military escort and even then it'd probably be a 50-50 chance that you'd make it!
Another Indepth report on the Horrors of Mexico from some one who has no first hand knowledge. I've heard of the many horror stories about Atlanta(your home) I can't imagine driving through that city without an armored vehicle:R

Good Bye Mom::::::::

Hope this touches you the way it touched me!
A young man shopping in a supermarket noticed a little old lady following him around. If he stopped, she stopped. Furthermore she kept staring at him.
She was ahead of him at the checkout, and she turned to him and said,
"I hope I haven't made you feel ill at ease; it's just that you look so much like my late son."
He answered, "That's okay."
"I know it's silly, but if you'd call out "Good bye, Mom" as I leave the store, it would make me feel so happy."
She then went through the checkout and, as she was on her way out of the store, the man called out, "Good-bye, Mom."
The little old lady waved, and smiled back at him.
Pleased that he had brought a little sunshine into someone's day, he went to pay for his groceries.
"That comes to $121.85," said the clerk.
"That can't be right... I only bought 5 items."
The clerk replied, "Yeah, but your Mother said you'd be paying for her things, too."
Bet you thought this was going to be a tear jerker.
Don't trust little old ladies!!!!
