I paid the extra money for Honda's and have never been sorry.Which one did you have and how low were the temps when you ran it? Thanks.
Have a set of 2000i's. Have used them in 10 degree weather, never had occasion to try colder.
Have ran my 3000 honda in 17 degrees had no probs did have to run the choke for about 30-45 seconds at start up after that it just purred.

I tried to find one 3 years ago all i got was no returned e mails/phone calls and the one who responded said it sold as soon as it was posted.Gave up on CL.
Ended up finding one on another board for 1300.Wasnt as new as you described but been a great unit i did have to get starter gear fixed though one month after i got it but been solid since.My brother in law found an almost new one for 1300 on CL though 2 years ago

Empty i run 40 in the rear and 45 up front.Camper 75 rear 70 front,towing toyhauler 55 rear 50 front.(any more the tires feather wear very fast and get fine rubber on the fender wells)

I have a 8.5 lance and a 13.5 a/c.Gets camper really cool and fast nice esp when i go to lake havasu or other river places in the summer.I dont think i would e happy with a smaller a.c unit

RE: To all GM owners. Buying advice needed.
pump rub affects all the 2500/3500 hds 2000 to the 2007 new body style.I it hasnt rubbed thru it will.Most have fixed this. just make sure.
My 3500hd work truck is a 12 ft flatbed always loaded and 2wd it has 270k on the odometer.Motor is the 6.0 only been in shop for new trans at 158k and exhaust bolt broke at 265k.

front hitch mount and carry the 3000 honda.Just a cable lock but plan on a better non cut chain and lock type soon.
As far as running it and roadside when i go to lake powell and sleep over past vegas i want to run my a/c and sleep good so i run the gen at night.Not to easy to sleep in camper when its still 105 degrees at nightime.Normally i pull into a truck stop type place where they too are running their engines.

RE: Driving in the snow with TC
Here in so cal i have gone camping in the mountains during snow storms.I trip the roads had light snow but i still had some spots that had a thin layer of ice with camper on i had no probs was able to do in 2wd with the added weight of camper but did so carefully.
The other it snowed alot more on the way down in some spots the snow was pretty packed i had no issues in 2wd if i tried.
All the times i did drive i did most driving in 4wdH for added safety but tried 2wd to see how truck and camper felt driving.When the camper is off the rear slides pretty easily not the best for ice or snow.

In my toyhauler i am using 2 6v batts and have no prob running lights,heater,and inverter for sat tv at night after i shut the gen down.I can go most of the day without a generator if i had too.
As for my camper it only has one battery a goup 27 sized.I also use a power inverter and run the sat tv.I will run the gen for as long as i can and have ran the tv off the inverter for a couple hours but i turn off the lights or only use minimum lights if needed.

i have a 2500hd shortbed with a lance 8.5 camper i tow a 21ft eliminator boat and tow it from so cal to lake powell in northern AZ once a year.Mine aint diesel though just a 6.0 gasser.
No airbags stock height.

Still those folks with the red (honda) or Blue (Yamaha) swear by them, and think that they are worth every penny!!
I've got an Onan in the MH.....and I have more problem with it, than the Champion wannabe that we have in the garage. So, who really knows???
I've had a honda since oct 09 that has outlasted a champion and an elim 300 combined.
I do use the gens quite a bit when we head out to glamis to power up lights at night and keep batts topped off.The champ and elim were always effected by sand i had to clean the outer carb out so the throttle didnt stick.
And on the longer trips i use alot less fuel with the honda.So far the price difference 1300 for used honda and 640 bucks for the previous 2 gens.and i have honestly saved at least 100 bucks worth of fuel so far so that leaves it to about 550 bucks differnce as of now but being able to run an a/c past daytime hours with no issues and the quietness of the honda makes it up.
Noisewise the champ really isnt that bad compared to other uncovered gens.But it aint honda quiet either.Most places that have alot of ambient noise will really make the champ sound even quieter.

I have had bfg all terrains and mud terrains on 4 different trucks both light and heavy and i will tell you the M/T kills the A/Ts on the sand and all around.The A/T may be a little quieter on the street thats about it.

45 front
40 rears when unloaded
Camper 75 all around
Towing toyhauler and loaded use to do 65 rear and 50 front but tires have been wearing fast and seeing very fine rubber on the wheel wells dropped to 55 and no signs of rapid wear or rubber anymore.

RE: Portable Genny on the Cheap
A friend bought one for his toyhauler to use to run lights at night and keep batts topped off.He was happy with it used little fuel and at glamis it wasnt loud out there since it can be noisy anyways.
He does have an onboard onan too for the bigger stuff.I am thinking of getting one of the harbor freight ones too for my camper or same thing lights and batts.I do have a honda 3000 right now too.
When i am in noisy spots why run the honda anyways for jsut batts and lighting

Every trip to the sand dunes i use 4wd.I can get a really great camp spot where others cant make it or too scared to tow their trailer out that far even in 4wd.
Use it during winter time camping with camper on when we go to the snow as well.

Honda eu3000 mainly cause i have spent 600 in china gens(elim and champion)that only lasted about 3 years between both of them.A new champ was now 450 here in ca.So i decided put that towards a honda.
Went with the 3000 due to having a/c on my toyhauler and camper,then in winter time i take a decent sized compressor to the dunes to air up my tires when i leave.A 2000 wouldnt cut it.I can give alot of comparisons to my previous gens but no need to.
Pros
Powers all i stuff i take
Quiet
Runs for a while on fuel
Doesnt work too hard when running a/c can leave on eco mode.
Cons
pricey
kinda heavy

I had a truck that had some emission repairs for smog it had to be driven and cycled for the test.Tech told me for the evap sys to start up when cold truck bring to 2000 rpm for 5 min that will take care of that other stuff he said turn off drive tun off restart then drive.etc
