RE: Another Lippert Frame Failure

After seeing that mess, I'm glad I have an air ride hitch. It takes a tremendous amount of stress off the hitch.

RE: 6.7 Powerstroke to Power New Military Vehicle

Supprised they are going with a Mexican built engine instead of the USA build Cummins or D-MAX, but then again...... consider the source.

RE: 2004 Ford Powerstroke Engine Reliability

Pretty sad when you have to go all the way back to the 02 model year 7.3, to get a reliable diesel offering from Ford. Friend of mine is in the same boat with a 04 Powerstroke. He won't drive it for fear of it failing, but he can't sell it for what he thinks it's worth...... very sad.

RE: Dually or Single Rear Wheel for towing

Dually = two more tires to buy and you can't rotate the ones you have. :) No offense to the "gotta have a diesel dually to pull a fiver" crowd.
Why can't the tires be rotated? Get mine done every 6k at Discount for free and takes bout a 30 minutes.

RE: Did a little PM today...

Great job ib516 but I have a question, being that you are from Canada why don't you have your truck sprayed with Krown to stop the rust? I live in Mi and get my vehicles sprayed every year, and I have zero rust anywhere.

RE: 100,000 mile diesel

Oh yes, the only diesel engine I would buy with that many miles would be a Ford 6.0...
Sorry but a troll question deserves a troll response.

RE: Another case of dreaded 2011 Ford 6.7L HPFP failure?

It seems ram is the way to. Which is fine, they make one heck of a truck.
Check if they are switching to the Bosch CP 4.x pump before you buy.
It is a matter of time, so if not 2012, it will be 2013.
Wrong, the 2012s are already out, and have been for a while. Where do you get this BS?
Where did I say model year?
Did you see Model Year 2012?
If you did, are you seeing it now?
How long have you been seeing things like that?
:S
you've lost your mind man.

RE: Another case of dreaded 2011 Ford 6.7L HPFP failure?

If you are paying $150.00 for an oil change, you got a grease job alright.
Cost of filter: $30
Cost of mid grade Synth Oil (15 quarts) $$90
Cost of same in top quality dino oil $60
Before the vehicle rolls in shop, $120 in supplies.
Or, minimum $90
Minimum shop time to do the job as I specify it: about 3/4 hr of shop time.
Put vehicle on hoist: 5 min
Drain old oil: 10 min
Fill new oil: 7 min
Install new oil filter: 5 min
Start motor, verify no leaks / recheck oil: 5 min
Check transmission oil level: 5 min
Check rear diff: 5 min
Grease fittings: 10 min
Drain / check water in fuel: 5 min
Check tire pressure including spare: 7 min
Check coolant / add (optional)
Check brake fluid / add
Check PS fluid / add
Check battery / alternator output (optional)
Add windshield washer
Clean floor mats
Lower vehicle from hoist, drive out: 5 min
Cost of shop time per hour: Minimum $100, often $200 or more.
Therefore, a price in the range of $150 to $200 for a routine service appointment on a 6.0 is not unusual.
Did your service center check your diesel fuel water separator for water the last time you had it in for service?
If a dealer or vendor wish to discount the job, they can, but they got to be making it up from finding things wrong with your vehicle and billing you additional amounts.
That is how you get $19.95 oil changes for cars.
I can do everything on your list in a half hour and for 50 bucks. If you are paying 200 bucks, that's your fault.

RE: Another case of dreaded 2011 Ford 6.7L HPFP failure?

#1 You need a new place to buy your filters. My Wix is 7 or 8 bucks from Napa Auto for my 6.5 or my Max. Here is an OEM AC Delco for 10 bucks.
#2 Your buying the wrong engine if you want to save oil. My 6.5 takes 8 Qts. My Dura Max takes 10 Qts. My 5.7 takes 6 Qts.
#3 5 gallons of Rotella is 50 to 60 bucks.
You need to get better at shopping if your paying what you said your paying for an oil change.
Find me the lowest delivered price for a 6.0 oil filter --- Ford or Racor, but not "house brand".
Oil capacity on the 6.0 is... 15 quarts.
Few shops stock Rotella T, so I end up paying for the whole bucket.
Normally, I get grease job done at same time, and a few other small things like drain the water trap that add to the cost.
If you are paying $150.00 for an oil change, you got a grease job alright.

RE: Anyone hearing of Ecoboost problems..?

i traded a 6.2 silverado for my f150 ecoboost. In all honesty, if i had to do it again, i would have kept the silverado. The ecoboost is nice, but the mileage isnt much better than the 6.2 silverado and the ecoboost has a lot of annoying drivability quirks that the dealer cant seem to straighten out
The low end torque in the ecoboost is great though
That's funny cuz the Ecoboost is supposed to get 23 highway MPG. I think we all knew that was BS.

RE: How does your 5th wheel ride?

I laugh at those that state they have left items on the counter only to find them OK.
If you drive on most roads in the US that will be true.
Tell me that you did it after the 18 mile bridge on I10 near Lafayette LA and I will question it to the nines, LOL
If I'm ever in that area, I'll let ya know.:R

RE: How does your 5th wheel ride?

When I first got my Cardinal, it was either the 2nd or 3rd camping trip we were on, I left a bottle of water on the counter as we left the campground. I did not realize it until we got home 40 miles later and the water was right were I left it. I was suprised on how well it rode that the water was still there. Now I leave all the "stuff" on the counter and table and it hardley moves at all.
