RE: For the senors in the audience

Yes, I will be glad to help you. First you need some bailing wire, some duck tape and WD40.......Um, what did you say your name was and what did you need fixed? Bob ( did I spell it backwards again?)

RE: Unmounted television

I saved the box and packing material that the TV came in. When traveling, I slide the unit back into the box and sit it on the floor next to couch. Bob

RE: TT for offroad travel

Been there and done it. So, here is my observations when shopping for a TT to take to the place not disturbed. You want 15" or taller wheels, the sewer out let mid trailer and not hung low. A robust frame and sealed under neath. 40 gallon or larger water tank and spare tire. Finally good construction, screws not staples. We have camped in places with our Nash 22GQ that normally are only seen by tent campers. i.e. pack the chain saw, shovel, and pry bar before packing the beer. Bob

RE: Brake/bearing inspection needed after one season?

Another vote to pack the bearings. Numerous times I have heard people say that when they opened up the hubs they found very little grease from the factory. Bob

RE: Is it time for new tires?

Sifter I agree with others that you should replace these tires. And, here is some more information for you to think about. Besides the age of the tires. You have no certain knowledge on how well the previous owner really took care of the tires. I have seen TT going down the road with the tires looking half flat because the owner did not check the air pressure before towing. Also, you have no way of knowing just how many deep potholes and curbs those tire have hit in 6 years. Causing internal stress not visible from the outside. Bob

RE: Dang it!!!! Lost my awning yesterday!!

The only thing that has saved you from arrest at this point is the fact that where you live is so big. Best have that Tango parked in the driveway before the Awning Police get there. Bob

RE: Bee's in Weep Holes under windows

Stu I checked that out yesterday. Must have been lucky and caught it before the bee had time to start planning a nest. Not knowing how the bug spray would react with the plastic window trim or even the fiberglass siding, I was a concerned about using it. Going with the screen idea. Bob

RE: Do you use cell phones while backing into campsite?

Thanks for this post. It reminded me to plan a practice session with my better half before we go this summer. He standing almost out of sight, waving both hands in circles going the opposite direction while telling me to turn the wheel the other direction does not work. Cell phone or radio helps me tell her that I am at full lock on the steering wheel and will have to pull out and try again. Bob

RE: Interesting Tire Decision, Opinions Welcome

Another vote for Maxxis. Also, will your current wheels stand up to the 80 PSI that a load E is rated for? If your previous tires were D then your wheels might be rated for only 65 PSI. I went through this when I upgraded to Load E Maxxis. I ordered a set of aluminum wheels along with the new tires. Bob

RE: another stabilizer jack question

Most that I have seen are bolted on. If you do not have holes I recommend that you drill. If you weld them on and then have a Whoops and bend or damage a unit, it is hard to remove a welded unit. If you do not have jacks already, is because it is an option that was not installed when new, or is it because it is not recommended for your frame? Might want to check this idea out before purchasing a set of jacks. Bob

RE: Cross Country Trip Which Route to take?

Two more items that I would like to suggest to help you on your trip. 1. If you do not have a copy already, get a copy of The Next Exit (not to be confused with the cheaper Exit Now). This book will provide information about each up coming on/off ramps on the Major Interstate Freeways. Will not cover every road, but you will be on Interstates on your trip. Gas station, restaurants, other items of interest for a traveler, etc. 2. If you have a lap top computer you can visit a hot spot or some campgrounds have WI-FI service and then you are just a click away from help/information on the RV.Net site. Bob

Bee's in Weep Holes under windows

While I was standing behind the TT filling the water tank I saw a small bee fly up to the TT and then go into the Weep Hole under the window. I waited until it came back out and then put some tape over the hole. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it to keep the insects out? Bob

RE: Cross Country Trip Which Route to take?

Can you get more time for Trip? 8 days is mighty tight for that distance.Route #1 is Approx 4,000 miles or 519 per day. Will not leave much time for sightseeing. Add in the unexpected i.e. a storm, mechanical problems, etc and you might be late on arrival. Also, for trip planning you should plan on averaging about 50 MPH since you will be towing. If you look at another route: Olympia, Salem Or, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Atlanta Ga, Savannah. It is approx 2,995 miles or 369 miles a day. Yes, you will miss a lot of the big attractions, but you would have a better chance of sticking to your arrival schedule. Yes, you can drive through Yellowstone National Park. However, it is very large, about the size of Rhode Island and the roads are narrow with a lot of traffic jams as people stop to look at animals. To stick to your schedule you will have to do a drive by look at the park. Which ever way you go, you will see a lot of different country and will never forget the adventure. Bob

RE: First long trip. Two old Gramma's. need lots of help

Here are a couple of suggestions for you to consider. After visiting Mt Rushmore in the daytime, then go back and see the night time show. Drive the Pig Tail Highway in your rented car. Think about riding up Pikes Peak on the Cog Rail Road while at Colorado Springs. Don't forget your camera so you can show the family members who stayed home what they missed. Bob

RE: Washing the TT

A few years ago I used some commercial black streak remover on the TT. Some ran down over a decal and removed the color in the decal. After that I used a paste wax that removed the black streaks while rubbing on the wax. Bob

RE: TV charging TT batteries

Here is something else for you to think about. If you battery is dead, and your TT becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle while towing, the break-away switch will not be able to activate the TT brakes to bring it to a stop. Bob

RE: Mt. Rushmore SD to Colo Springs

With your statement of needing to make it in one day...From Hermosa down to Colorado Springs, it is 458+ miles. 9-10 hours depending on how many rest/fuel stops you make. Down 18 to 25 then follow 25 south is fastest. Would like to suggest that you make this a two day trip. Bob

RE: Outdoor Carpet

Look at Indoor/Outdoor carpet at Home Depot. They have large rolls of this carpet. They will cut off the size that you want. It will last several years and it is easy to clean. I roll mine up and put it into a large plastic trash bag for transportation. Keeps the bed of the truck clean. Also Installed brass gromets so I can nail it down for windy days. Home Depot also has installation kits with spare parts. Just takes a hammer to install the brass part to the carpet. Bob
