RE: electrical problem

Another poster who never came back to tell us what happened - how rude!?!?

RE: Wrecked my 96 Dynasty, need advice!

Third party estimates would be helpful and persuasive with the adjuster. Did you take pictures of the accident scene before the vehicles were moved? That could help.

RE: Dinette screws stripped out - fixable?

A more complicated, time consuming but more durable fix would be to glue a 3" x 3" x 1/2" plywood where the legs attach, then screw the receiver back on. You would need to make some adjustment in the length of the legs.

RE: Valve cores stick !

I would not use silicone as the tiny seal on the core is made of rubber. A trucker told me to use a non-petroleum lubricant, then cap the valve to keep dust out.

RE: over heated & Broke down, update now in Flagstaff

So MrWizard, when do you think you will know the extent and type of the damage? We are all waiting to hear, hoping for the best for ya.

RE: Breakdown - how would you handle it

Not wanting to be one-way here, but I guess I am thinking diesel because that is what I have. So I guess the strategy would be different for low/falling oil pressure? The engine damage is going to happen just as quickly, maybe even quicker.

Breakdown - how would you handle it

I didn't want to hijack MrWizard's thread ...
When you notice your engine overheating or falling oil pressure, what should one do to minimize the drive train damage?
Case 1: Turn the ignition off. I don't think you want to lose your steering or brakes. What would the transmission do with dead engine?
Case 2: Quickly shift down to lower gears. That would increase engine RPM and probably worsen the damage. Maybe the transmission would not even let you shift down quickly enough anyway.
Case 3: Brake hard and stop as quickly as possible. But you would need to consider the impact on other traffic as well as current road surface conditions, e.g. wet pavement.
Case 4: Maybe some combination of the above.
Case 5: As MrWizard did, for reasons of safety, try to get off the road as quickly as possible. We might have all done that in interest of safety.
I sure don't know, but I think it is a question worth pondering.

How well does that system work?

Well, it's good to hear that your ERS stepped and didn't charge you for the second tow. I hope it turns out well for you.

RE: Battery water level

As George says, I use a battery filler bottle. It will fill to proper level, at the bottom of fill tube.

Just curious, how much did Afinity charge you to tell you they would to replace the engine for $14k? Do they know what is wrong with it?

RE: Removing Exterior Decals and Stripes

This company removed our old decals, printed new ones and installed them. They did a great job. The site also shows you how to remove them yourself and you can order their standard replacement stripes and decals to install yourself.
But is this a DIY job? How difficult?

RE: Best tire pressure monitoring system

I have the TST 510 system, but I wish I had bought the 507 system due to the battery replacement issue. Customer service has been great. TST replaced 3 sensors and a monitor after 2+ years use.

RE: Can't pump fresh water tank dry - '02 Phaeton

I can see the side of the FW tank in the back of the wet bay. It has about 3 inches of water in it and the tank level indicator shows 1/3 full.
