RE: Propane Tank Question

There's a propane company that makes deliveries here in Tucson that fills them in place. He loosens the screw on the valve and bleeds off air until gas comes out. I had 2 filled yesterday.
The last 3 or 4 places I have visited used the same process, none of them had scales.

RE: Mounting motorcycle wheel chock

Also check the weight rating of your D-Rings. Mine were not strong enough, so I installed 3 pieces of ETrack. I carry a Dyna and a Road King Classic. I bolted the Harbor Freight chocks through the floor, and use good tie down straps for the front and rear.

RE: Can you recommend a park in Roanoke, VA?

Avoid Dixie Caverns in Salem. As one reviewer on rvparkreviews put it, save money and stay at the WalMart 7 miles up the road. As Butternotmom said, there's not much of a choice. Douthat State Park is about an hour away, but is a great park.

RE: NM, CO, WY, MT, UT Trip Planning

In northern NM, take a look at the NRA Whittington Center near Raton. This is a beautiful facility with lots of critters. We stayed there during September and just about had the campground to ourselves (except for the deer, antelope, and elk). Not sure where you are staying in Coolidge, bur Rancho Sonora, a few miles south of Florence and 10 east of Coolidge, is a beautiful park.

RE: Buccaneer State Park, MS

We stayed for a month this spring. The campground was clean, with new "hurricane proof" bath facilities. The park staff was exceptional; just after checking in, the head ranger stopped by to make sure everything was ok. The main road by the water was under construction when we were there. Instead of following the signs to the park, you should take the exit from US90 to the casino, otherwise you have to cross railroad track that have been built up.

RE: Route 81 in Virginia

It's to sad to hear about Dixie Caverns. I stayed there years ago, and it was decent then.
One of the best reviews I've ever seen on RVParkreviews: Quiz--What is the difference between staying here and at the Wal-Mart 7 miles North? Answer-$28.

RE: New Mexico Green chili cheeseburgers

That's my favorite part of traveling in New Mexico. I don't care what you order, you get asked, "Red or Green?".
and Christmas is the right answer!

RE: New Mexico Green chili cheeseburgers

Just had a good one from Greenside Cafe in Cedar Creek (I-40 exit 175). Last weekend, we had another one at the Mine Shaft Tavern in Madrid (where the movie Wild Hogs was filmed). DW had the Green Chile Wrap and wouldn't even share it was so good! There are many great little artsy shops (judging from the time DW spent looking) in Madrid.

RE: Headed to Black Hills where to stay

The hike around to the back of the mountain is a must-do. Not many people have seen the other side.

RE: Full timing and banking

50 cents to deposit a check? I guess that will put an end to the DWs mail in rebates. I've always liked getting those 20 cent checks.
There are several banks that let you deposit checks electronically. Charles Schwab has an app for the Android and iPhone to do this.
They also refund all ATM fees.

RE: Can you suggest a campground in Raton, N.M.

I'm sitting in the NRA Whittington Center campground right now. The scenery is great, and have seen lots of wild critters. Just this morning, I've seen rabbits, deer and antelopes. There are only a few RVs here so it's pretty quiet. Most sites are 30 amp, but there are a few 50 amps scattered around.

RE: Tying Down The Motorcycles

You might also check the strength of the D Rings. After I had one break loose, I installed etrack and use ratchet straps on the triple tree, and another strap to keep the rear end from bouncing.

Chewacla SP has nice shaded sites. They have a few pull through sites, but even the back-ins were ok for our 39' toy hauler.

RE: Planning & finding the sights along your route

Roadside America has the quirky attractions. During our recent trip through Kansas, we saw theworlds largest ball of twine and the only town with hot and cold water towers.. According to their website, you can purchase POIs or an iphone app.
