Sugar Valley Lakes is located about an hour's drive south of Kansas City near the Missouri border in east central Kansas, an area of rolling wooded hills that harbor a variety of wildlife. The resort is only ten miles from the Marais des Cygnes Refuge, where geese, ducks, wild turkey, and other game can be observed. The resort property consists of 1,200 acres and 19 lakes ranging in size from one to 85 acres each. Fishing for catfish, bass and perch is a favorite activity.

From Kansas City, take Hwy. 69 south and exit west on Rt. 52. Proceed 5 miles, through Mound City, and turn south on Hwy. 7. Resort is 2 miles south on Hwy. 7. There is 1.5 miles of gravel road from clubhouse to campsites with 1 steep hill and a spillway to cross.
