NO....and I could get into 12vdc operated relays that will shut 120vac off and on, but doubt seriously if you have anything like that anyway, so at this point, I think best that you do call this mobile tech.
If you do decide to replace the element on a bet, then...NO SHORE POWER, NO GENERATOR, BATTERIES OFF THAT MIGHT BE SUPPLYING AN INVERTER SOMEWHERE and you should be safe to proceed.

FYI-
Replaced the heating element. The old one had lots of crud on it and obviously was shorted out. All is working now....except for the interior on/off light . Guess it shorted out the bulb but that is an easy fix.

Good for you and just so you know, everything isn't a short and what is referred to as an open. If it was shorted, you wouldn't be able to keep the 120vac breaker on, that's feeding it.
Your interior light is 12vdc and most likely an open bulb, unless more than one is out, in which case, I'd be looking at a fuse somewhere.
I have fluorescent lighting and the one nearest the entry is also controlled by a switch next to the door, so naturally, it can be off while the other is on and still no light. Just sayin.............

Kanyonkitty wrote: What make of water heater do you have. If it's an Atwood, it could just be the heating element that needs changing. Remove old element, go to Lowes/Home Depot purchase a new heating element and install the new one, reconnect the wires. I had to replace the heating element on my Atwood Gas/Electric unit, so it's not hard to do.
Kitty X-2, This is a good start after checking breakers, fuse, hot water switch and wiring!
