Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone for us also.
Nice little town with lots of amenities and half a mile from the west gate to Yellowstone.
The grizzly bear and wolf sanctuary in West Yellowstone is well worth the visit.

We went in 2010 on the 4th of July, lots to do. We stayed in Cody at the Ponderosa right on the road to the Park. We liked it but we were not going any farther past the park. West Yellowstone, stayed there a few years back, it is OK too. Lots to see in Cody, the museume is a must do if you like western history.

We have been to Yellowstone nine times. We usually start at Grand Teton RV park near Moran. (Ranger guided wildlife viewing at Oxbow Bend most afternoons). We split the rest of our time at Yellowstone RV just outside Gardner Mt. Great, park mostly full timers that work at the park. This way we only spend one afternoon moving, and that is a beautiful drive up through the park. This way I eliminate "the commute" from the more distant parks. Don't sell the Tetons short.

When we went in 2010 we stayed at the Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground and Marina on Hebgen Lake, northwest of West Yellowstone about 15 minutes. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Owners and staff were awesome. We had a reservation at another campground nearby that was severly misrepresented by others on another forum and by their internet site. The owners at Yellowston Holiday were awesome and even though they were full made things work for us to stay a couple days there. http://www.yellowstoneholiday.com/
We also stayed the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone for 2 nights. While it's more expensive the state or federal parks it was nice. Our kids liked being able to get free cappuccino/hot chocolate in the morning when they went for their showers. The facilities were impeccable and I would stay there again. http://www.grizzlyrv.com/
On our way out to Yellowstone we stayed in Cody one night at the Ponderosa Campground. While it's pretty packed in there it was very clean and staff were extremely helpful/friendly. It's close to numerous things to do in Cody and I would stay there again also. http://www.codyponderosa.com/

Bridge Bay CG inside the park. It is dry camping but who needs power when the nights are cool? No, there is no over the air TV or cable, no cell service but surely one can live unconnected to the world for at least a few days. It will continue to spin without you & your smartphone connected to it.
Being inside the park saves lots of time & fuel never mind the ambience of being inside the park instead of a could be anywhere private CG with all the ammenities & price to go with them.

Not sure this was addressed, as I skipped several of the postings! 
Keep in mid that Yellowstone is BIG and you will do a lot of driving. For that reason alone, I would recommend staying in the park. We spent 5 days there in late Sept. while coming south and we put on well over 250 miles on the care inside the park.

We are planning on Yellowstone in June, and now have lots of great referrals to stay. Side question, can you see the park in two days? If time is limited, what do you recommend for a first trip, thinking we'll stay around the West Yellowstone entrance?

if you only have two days, IMHO, don't even bother going there.
we were there 7 days and never even got to the north end of the park.
4 days would be enough to just scratch the surface.
i would say seeing the west side of the park, with the geysers, would be a good first trip.

You didn't say if you had to have hook ups. If you do, Grizzly in West Yellowstone is my choice. Little pricey but very nice and an excellent spot for day trips into YNP. Just make sure you allot enough time for your stay. A MINIMUM of four days should be set aside in the summer due to the crowds.
