How about the tranny going out?? How many of you would still stay with the agreed on price? I don't think any of you would. It's easy to spend someone else's money. I would offer him 3k less for new tires, if he doesn't agree keep looking. As already mentioned, there could be several more things he hasn't told you. You don't have a deal until the money has changed hands, agreeing on a price is not a binding contract.
Apples and rutabegas. This isn't a bad engine, this is tires that have passed some magic age, therefore some people have declared they need to be replaced.

I guess I would have to disagree with the naysayers etc. IMHO, and take that for what it's worth, the 96 Executives are a quality coach. If you like the coach, and obviously you do, have an adult conversation with the seller. Explain to him one tire needs to be replaced, (the one with the crack). This should be obvious to him. Also, print out the advisement from Michelin about tires at 10yrs. Discuss the tire situation and see if you can reach a deal. You do not have a deal until the papers are signed. Whatever negotiations went on before today are simply that, negotiations. If you both were satisfied with your previous negotiations, then you would have had a contract signed. No deal is done until the final signature is placed on the dotted line. All this said, if the coach is everything you want and you can afford it, buy it regardless of the tire situation. Just know that a set of 6 290/80/22.5 will set you back about $3900 out the door....your money, you decide....be sure to let us know how you make out....(fingers crossed)......Dennis

I guess it depends on how much risk I want to take with the tires. I for one don't drive slow. I like to drive 75-80 MPH. Can I do that with these old tires?
I have only come to learn about the aged out thing in the past few months. I have heard the tires can blow out. What if it happens to me at the speed I drive? I drive in the summer too. I honestly DON'T want to believe that the tires are bad after a certain age, BUT if one blows on me I could get hurt or killed or hurt others.
I know that you believe the 6.0 PSD in my current setup is a disaster waiting to happen, but at least it won't hurt or kill me. My gut feeling though is that the 6.0 will not let me down if I decide to keep it.

Walk away unless you are willing to accept the coach as is. With private sales there is no implied or expressed warrenty. No legal requirement with RV's to disclose anything unlike a stick and bricks. If the engine falls out a mile from the sale location you own it as is, where is.
What concerns me is if the seller hasn't replaced the tires based on age rather than wear what else have they over looked concerning time based maintenance? Is the engine and transmission oil as old as the tires? How old are the batteries?

If it's in good shape and you like it, I sure wouldn't let tires stand in my way. That price isn't out of line as it's a very well built top of the line MH. When I was shopping for a used DP I looked at some newer units that weren't in near as good condition as what I bought. I paid top dollar for my very clean low mileage 06 Journey and feel I got a good deal. And I'll be putting new tires on it this year. If you motor home shop you will likely be happy. If you price shop you will likely regret it. Been there, done that. Good luck.

HOLY CRAP!!!! I don't mean to hijack the thread, but you are crazy to drive that fast with a motorhome even on new tires! All tires, old or new, can blow. If you blow a front tire at that speed you will probably go off the road and kill everyone on board. You are driving a house down the road, not a sports car. Not to mention that a non-tag axle class A will not feel good at all at that speed. Keep it at 60-65, or don't buy a Class A.... You will make up time in the Class A by not having to stop for food and bathroom brakes for the kids the way you have to when pulling a TT.

Mine drives the same at 75 as it does at 60. Just uses a little more fuel.

Well, it is a better deal than this one:
http://www.sellrv.com/MONACO-EXECUTIVE/Motorhomes-for-sale/INDEPENDENCE-Ohio/used-Class-A-Motorhome-1995-listings-2961.html
$110K for a 17 year old Monaco?!? You can get a 1995 Prevost for that price range. Seller is on crack....
