Depends on your age and endurance etc.
When we were young we would get up at 5:30 or so and hit the road and be in Michigan by 4:00 or a little later; 600 miles.....on 20.00 bucks in gas.
Driving the motorhome we average about 300 miles or a little more. That's all we want to go now.
Your mileage may vary.

You've spent a bunch of money on something with which to have fun. Why not do something fun with it? Spending your (ample, as it turns out) non-driving time in a parking lot is not fun, and when children are involved, is a pretty bad idea.

As stated 50 mph is a good average. This time of the year you will be lucky if you have much more then a little over ten hours of daylight. If you don't plan on driving at night a ten hour driving day will probably take twelve hours or a little more depending on number and length of stops. Personally I believe in the rule of twos: two hundred miles a day, stay two days, cocktails by two p.m.

With the motor home I've done Oklahoma City to Nashville when I had 16 hours of daylight, but not several consecutive days. When I have to cover ground, I plan for 10 hours of driving, in a 12 to 13 hour day, camp to camp. That can be good for 500 to 600 miles.

touring is different, shorter days, less of that day driving. when people say 200-300 miles, touring is what they are talking about.

When scheduling an extended trip (in terms of days) try to drive 200 or so miles per day...this allows for getting up late...meandering and getting to the campground early and settled in before dark...that was with the 5th wheel.

We've taken several trips with the new to us Class C...it's all togther a different animal...you can easily drive 300-400 miles per day...

In the end, it's what you're comfortable with...I really liked our 200 miles per day...no stress...strain...and were still able to enjoy the trip.

OK, By the time you get your crew out of bed, feed the dogs, walk the dogs, get breakfast, get hooked up, hit the road, stop for fuel, potty breaks, lunch, walking dogs, water the dogs, etc., then get to a campground before dark. Well, about 300 miles, maybe.

DW and I are in our middle 60's, we used to travel 10 -12 hours a day, even when we rode our Harley across country, but that was in our 30's to late 50's. We left Tennessee with only going 325 miles a day to get to Texas with the last day being around 250. We got up as usual around 5:30am and got out of town, we got to our intended destination at 12 noon, to early to stop so we kept on going, well to make a long story short we traveled the first day 525 mile and stopped at 5:30, went to bed at 6pm got up at 3:30am and went the rest of the way. First day almost killed me as I did all of the driving. Now we get up when nature calls and leave when we have had coffee and a bagel. We only do max of 350 and sometimes shorter. We also stop and look at nature when we feel like it. Everyone is different and you have to decide for yourself. jmho.

your number of miles per day will gradually decrease as the length of the trip increases. it may be easy to do 700 miles the first day, but as the days wear on, you may only be able to do 300, esp with kids.
