I charged it then turned off the battery switch inside and unplugged the shore power, next day it won't crank.

Does your chassis battery receive a charge from shore power? Many rigs do not have that feature.
YEs it appears by the volt meter that it's charged by the maintainer as well as the house batteries...

The inside battery shut off switch is normally for the house battery.

Do you also shut off the chassis battery?

No I didn't shut the master disconnect off, just the inside switch.

How do you determine that the chassis battery is charged when you remove the shore power? Do you have a meter inside or a multimeter that you use?


I used a meter and plus it cranks .l.


Any ideas where to start looking for a electrical draw? When I hit the battery boost to crank it, that doesn't work either.

Try disconnecting the negative cable from the chassis battery overnight. The next day rehook and see if you have power in the battery to start the engine.

If it starts the battery is good and you have a draw on the chassis battery. If the engine will not start, the battery is bad.



How do you know your house batteries are charged when you unplug from shore power? Do you use a meter that shows something more than 12.2v?

Yes the meter shows around 12.8

I ask because if your house batteries are charged and you use the house battery shut off switch, you should be able to boost the chassis battery with the house battery after turning that switch on.


Not sure whats going on with the boost. It basically ties all the batteries together right? The solenoid pulls in but the voltage doesn't go up when it activated...

Yes, my boost ties the house batteries to the chassis battery for the boost.

If your house batteries show 12.8 dcv and the boost does not help the starting process, then the boost switching must be bad.

My schematics indicate a 7.5A fuse between the house battery switch and the boost switch. That fuse is located where the house 12v fuses are mounted. Your wiring may be different.

They also indicate a relay/solenoid in the engine compartment downstream of the boost switch. I am not knowledgeable enough to guess how that works. But it sounds like the solenoid is working.

Well i have come to the conclusion that my battery is bad, going to get another and move forward. Is the light on my battery maintainer suppose to be on all the time even when the shore power is unplugged?
