Why are there so many threads addressing the same subject?

Just use the one or two or three already running. Continuity is appreciated.

If you just use one Forum you need to expand your searching. Being a Mod is a thankless job and with no pay I assume.

I searched for info on a topic earlier today and found the only thread addressing my question had been closed. The original poster had the same exact question I did, his question was never directly answered in the thread, and there was no argument or anything I could see that required closing the thread over.

I have less of a problem with threads getting moved/closed/deleted than with the inconsistency of how it's approached.

............It's kinda obvious that off subject posts had nothing to do with the Closing , it WAS closed cause the discussion would eventually delve into quality issues twixt brands and from there into legal issues of warranty , which mfger assumed responsibility , etc . The engineer was just getting around too explaining why some tires have ongoing quality issues and some are forever having blowouts !
............These tire threads should be started everyday so that each time a new member starts looking for advise on what tires they should purchase for their trailer the subject is front and center for them too read . It's as simple as that ! , jf

I own one of the top Green Bay Packers fan websites and our Forums are the most trafficked on the Internet so I do have years of experience. Our 4 Mods are unpaid and do it because of what we offer and their love of the Packers.

I sense the same here.

We choose not to delete but rather to merge with other similar topics when warranted.
Some feel we go overboard doing this but the majority appreciate the continuity where you don't have to waste time going through so many multiple topics talking about the same thing.

With that said.....Poof!!!

Ban - Tire Threads!

Due to multiple (admitted) Moderator deletes, the continuity
of any discussion - no matter how rational, or polite - is lost.

If nothing else - any and all viewers should keep in mind, the
Moderator deletes, closes threads - at his or her whim.

Doesn't matter if it's good, bad, or ugly.

Easy "out" is: - "It's gone off topic"

It's noteworthy the number of posters who start TIRE topics that genuinely belong on the FIFTH WHEEL forum - on General RVing Issues, or the Tech Issues forum.

Also the various posters who leave the Affinity forums for Escapees,
even with the same IDs (as here) - including some of the "experts" with blogs & web sites.

No doubt this will go "poof" also, LOL!

I was wondering when 'that' was going to show up.
Just a 'cop-out' excuse that holds no value......

Disregarding the several usual members that don't like any kind of moderation, what is occurring in most of the tire threads is that there are a handful of members that take over the threads. Then the next step is they begin attacking each other and any that oppose them. At that point Frank and I start getting all kinds of notifies (most justified). It's a no win situation. We delete the out of line post and then have to either edit or delete all the posts quoting it. It takes a lot of time and is very discouraging.
We don't have any way of merging threads/posts as someone suggested so that is out.
We can let them run and ignore the notifies or try to control them to some degree which is the path I have chosen. If I had a separate sub-forum for them, I would probably opt to move them all there and let them run but there is no programming time available.

ANYONE can post on ANY of the forums here. And thank god they do.
No one 'belongs' and/or are limited to posting on one forum. One that thinks this way will miss out on a ton of advice and knowledge from many seasoned "RVnet" members.

That sure was one of the best threads on that subject I've ever read......Too bad we won't get to hear the whole thing from someone with a great amount of knowledge, and with the help of a few of our own here........Thanks Mod.

I would have liked being able to read what he had already posted but I guess that's not possible now.

Its easy to do a google on "Barry Smith and Allexperts" for pages and pages of simuliar Q&A who I assume is CapriRacer. He is very knowledgable in his field has already answered many qusetions on the same topic.

The wise trailer owner should be more interested in what actually works vs what the tire manufacture has to sell and says.

We won't find a better sourse of "experienced" recommendations that actually works on ST vs LT tire topic as we have on this and other RV websites.
