I'm having trouble with the sensors reading 3/4 full after dump and flush(full tank flush serveral times). They will read 1/4 to 3/4 full after dumping. I always try to fill the tank a second time and flush but same result. I have put in 10lbs. of ice cubes when we broke camp and tried calgon also. The RV is 6 years old. Any thoughts. How hard is it the change out the sensors buy myself?
TIA

Don't sweat black tank sensors, very seldom do they work. We have a 50 gal black, empty every Wed. Sometimes we add water if we have been away from trailer for a day or so. The most accurate way to tell if getting full is listen for the "burp" when flushing.
More things to worry about than tank sensors.

The reliability of the sensors is so bad, to this day I don't know why they put them in. Especially since they are trying to make a TT as cheap as they can, this would be one item NOT to include as standard equipment.

Agree with the lack of the reliability statements mentioned above, but it still drives me crazy. As a result, I purchased this item online from Camping World Link and it is supposed to solve that problem. I will let you know once it arrives.

Mine never worked right and most likely never will.
Visual is fool proof.

As you have learned, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
Did you ever try The Geo Method for your tanks?

I just use a dip-stick with one foot markings and stick it in the toilet.
1 foot = ankle biters
2 feet = Kids pool
3 feet = MAYDAY!

+1 on the Geo Method. So far, I've had good luck with that when it comes to tank measurements.

Learned a little trick on this site. As I prepare leaving a camp site, on the way to dump station , I put the remaining ice cubes, crushed ice in toilet and flush it down. I put a lot of ice half a bag or more, I have large black tank. The idea is the ice bounces around tank and dislodges stuff. That and using "geo method" has really helped keep my tank "sweet smelling" and sensor free of, well stuff! Just a hint! It really works!

You can always go down to any hardware store and buy a quart bottle of their septic tank cleaner - add the contents to the black water tank - top off with water - wait a few days (longer the better) and dump the tank.
