We gave up on Reserve America a long time ago.....it's no use playing their little game. As you see, you can spend hours on the phone even with multiple phones calling in....if you don't get lucky enough to get through within an hour or so on the first of the month 7 months out....then all sites are gone from San Fran. to San Diego for that month. We use County sites, and private RV parks....granted, it's not the same as a state park on the coast, but let's face it....most of them have railroad tracks running right there, and the prices have gone through the roof. We can stay at an RV resort with golf, pools, tennis, spas on a developed site with outdoor kitchen, fireplace or pit for $55 bucks per night.....what are they charging now for dirt at a state park....???

MANY make reservations far in advance. When the time comes, for whatever reasons they have to cancel. At this time, we always get reservations. Usually 3-7 days in advance

Most people can't roll with 3 days notice.....those of us that work need advance reservations. You really can't make plans when you can't roll on a moments notice......California is just too populated to be able to use our own state parks, and the price just keeps going up for what you get. Just my oppinion.....

i believe the OP is asking about summer reservations in California, which aren't available with only 3-7 days in advance.

Doheny's one of the hardest campgrounds to get a spot in. ALL California beach sites are hard to get in the summer. Having said that, we use Reservamerica almost exclusively as we like a few of the state cg's. We book several months in advance and usually don't have a problem, ie, we get what we want 90% of the time. Booking on short notice does not work however. That's were the private campgrounds come in...
