Well the responses here on the towing forum have certainly validated whats on the lots. You all have almost convinced me I need to give one a try! Might be something to the profit margin thing as well. If you're ready to buy off the lot, and that's what they have. I don't have a garage, so that's not an issue, and rarely have passengers, although we do have small grandkids now that are growing up. I know from experience there is a diference in the towing ride with a TT. My previous truck was a SuperCab long box, and it was noticably smoother down the road. But I also like to get off the beaten track once in a while in search of venison for the grill. Thanks everyone.

The only down side I see to a crew cab is if you live in a city and go to shopping centers where the spaces are marked off for rice rockets. My short bed extended cab will barely fit in the spaces in the Walmart parking lot in town.

Well in that case you just park your truck dead center on the line dividing two spaces. That's better anyway since people won't be slamming their rice rocket doors into your truck side. I see this a lot around here. I usually park out further in the lot anyway and most big truck guys are doing that. Sams and Walmart are both bad about this.

Have had both and prefer the crew cab for the simple reason it's easier to get things in and out of. The doors on a crew cab are car like and make loading stuff easier when parked next to something. Nothing more iritating than playing musical chairs with your doors. Even if I didn't haul anyone I would still get the crew cab style doors. With all that being said I think Chevy has super cab doors that swing out 180deg. Now that would work also.

Can't prove it, but I bet resale value on the crew is much better also.

Just for fun I went to the Ford website and checked price/payload diferences. In the F250/350 trucks the crew is around $2300-2600 more depending on the trim level. In the F150's it's more, around $2600-2800. The towing and payload capacities are pretty close with the crew losing 200 lbs of payload and also 200 less towing capacity. Not enough weight differance to affect my choice. The extra cost might though. Didn't check the other brands. I will say that I like the Dodge/Ram door setup in their "SuperCab" or whatever they call it. the suicide back doors on my Ford can be troublesome in parking lots. And As a Ford lover I'll confess this also; IF, and that's a big if, I was going to buy a diesel I would give the RAM a hard look.

Try finding a nicely equipped diesel with a regular cab. Very rare indeed.

The truck I am driving now is a 2000 GMC 1/2 ton.
It is the extended cab.
I have never had to ride in the back seat, but in laws - "yes"
They did not complain going 8 hours drive time!
Of course we stopped twice for smoke breaks and a beer, not me I haven't touched a smoke since I was 21 years old!
I went a few weeks ago and looked at the F 150 EcoBoost HD and fell in love with the crew cab. Talk about space in the back seat - WOW!!
I sat in the front & moved the seat all the way back - then got in the back seat behind the driver and still had plenty of room for legs & feet..
Another month and I should be ready to go buy!

I have no children and always choose a crew cab. The supercab on the Ford is just to uncomfortable for rear seating of adult passengers. I love the interior space that you get with the crew cab and since I have a TT the short bed works well for me.

I have a 04 supercab. And according to the Ford book. the 04 supercab, and the 04 SuperCrew. Have the same size back seat.
The only problem I have with the SuperCab. Is "sometimes" in parking spots, it is hard to fully open the rear suicide doors. I sometimes wish it was a supercab at those times.

We've had the regular cab, the extended cab and now the crew cab. Nothing beats the crew cab for room, storage, and carrying passengers. We travel with 3 dogs and I also use it for taking fellow golfers with me to the course.

After the quad cab Dodges and crew cab Ford, I'm about ready to go back to a regular cab long bed. I liked my '95 Dodge reg cab with the shelves along the back wall behind the seat. We take my wife's Escape when we take people out with us. I don't think we can even get a regular cab SD other than work truck trim though.
