read this site and takes things that are discussed to heart and make changes or try to contact the costumer and help them? They should. It may open their eyes to better customer service and product quality. Mant times those issues alone encourage repeat business and word of mouth may encourage or discourage sales. Should make them think.

There's no "watch dog" group like JD Power to rate RVs.
Therefore, they are not held accountable.

You have to shell out more cash to buy a quality RV.

Maybe - maybe not. It is a cheap way of getting feedback. But IMHO most of the time it justs ends up in a donniebrook between lovers and haters and there is little value gained.

I have talked to a manufacture rep and I was told they don't read the forum, this one or any other one, I was told they only browse the site for their own units..but I was told that they don't lose any sleep as to what's said on any forum.......

Your question has been debated many times for many years on these forums. We know for sure that Winnebago did read these forums. I imagine some others did to. However, whether it influenced their thinking or operating policy or not is any one's guess. Probably the greatest benefit comes from what you personally learn about certain products and make decisions accordingly.

I would say they don't read the forum. I was at the Hershey RV show and I saw the poor quality in many of their units.
If they take poor workmanship to a major show, that tells me they don't really care.

A week or so ago there was a post about Blue Ox on here. I made some real negative comments about Blue Ox and them not making parts for their goose neck hitches. I don't know if it was just timing or they read the forum. I received an e-mail from the President that he was investigating, a few days later I received a call from Blue Ox customer service. Hmmmm. They do still make the part and I now have the part. I think some of the manufacturers do read the forums but do not admit it.

Reading the forums takes a lot of TIME,....I should know. TIME is MONEY.
I certainly don't expect any manufacturer to pay someone to read the RV forums.
I know I wouldn't.
They listen to nobody. THEY are the deciders, THEY are the experts.
The manufcturers ALREADY where all the cut corners exist. Heck, they're the ones who are there, every day. They're the ones who decided which corners to cut.
I decided a long time ago that "very good quality" DOES exist. I just can't afford it.

I know that the CEO of Hitch Hiker reads the HH forum and has made changes to
the fifth wheel trailers because of discussions on that forum.I have read posts by him that asked for more information and he has asked staff members to post on occasion. So at least one company does take advantage of customer feedback.

I'm fairly sure that they, like most OTHER large businesses contract with a clipping bureau to monitor sites where their products are discussed. Used to be mainly magazines and newspapers but modern bureaus also monitor the Internet and there are many LEVELS that they can contract for. At it's MOST complete the service assures that they get ANY published article that contains their name.
