For the second time in two weeks (correction from original post) I have come to the conclusion that Carefree RV Resorts don't bother to follow their own rules. I thought that when I retired I could sleep as long as I wanted, or at least until quiet time ended. We are at the Dunedin RV Resort (part of Carefree) in Florida for the winter and in their rules they say the quiet time goes until 8 am. Even though I tend to stay up late and sleep until around 9am I understand that after 8 it becomes open season for waking Ken up. The problem is that Carefree employees think its OK to go up and down the roads in a golf cart at 7:30 using a PA playing a bugle reveille ( I thought I was done with that when I got out of the Marines) and announcing that its time to wake up and get to the rec center for a breakfast. It's bad enough that they wake you up and you can't get back to sleep but then they expect you to pay for the breakfast too. I was going to complain about it until I found that others have with no luck.

I guess another way to look at it is: At our age, be glad you woke up to hear the bugle.

about all you can do is register a complaint. if enough people do that the behavior should change. if it doesn't then vote with your wallet. if enough people do *that* the behavior will change.

The trouble with being punctual is that nobody’s there to appreciate it.

That's ridiculous and not my vision of camping. I have and will refuse to even pull into "camp grounds" like this...(I'll make my own breakfast).
Use the wheels on your rig and move on down the road.

I.Notice I said "I" would locate the offending "Horn", and put it out of commission .problem solved

Now, doing that, may create a whole different set of problems, but, that is for another post.

That's really unbelievable. Certainly not what I would expect of a "resort" that supposedly caters to it's guests enjoyment and comfort.

You could always take pen to paper and write a complaint letter to the camp ground, ... AND cc to the home office to put a formal pair of eyes on the situation other than yours.

Just a thought ...

x2 on that idea. i've done similar letters like that and i always try to learn the name of the CEO and address the letter to him/her by name. if Carefeee is a publicly traded company the CEO info will be publicly avaialble.

That post made me chuckle a bit.. I'm not a good morning person, and if I was out relaxing at a camp ground, I would not expect them to be waking me up at 7:30!! I would probably march my unhappy ass right to the office and make it clear that if they did that again, I would be rolling down the road, and also making anyone I could aware of their practices..
