As far as shopping JCP online, I had a lot of fun buying things for DW at Christmas. Free shipping and when UPS pulled up out front, I'd say must be Santa.......and I need some more wrapping paper

I haven't seen the commercial yet (almost always record shows then watch them later), but I will still shop at JCP since I buy a lot of clothes there for myself and my two kids. I'm so glad they've done away with most of the sales, and will drop prices 40%. Now, I can go when it's convenient instead of having to go the days they had sales. It was obvious they marked up the prices by a large percentage because they planned on selling them at their sale price.
I will miss getting $10 coupons in the mail 3-4 times a year where I could use them as they as the item cost at least ten dollars. When my daughter was younger, I used to buy holiday dresses on clearance after Christmas and use the $10 coupon. I'd spend a few dollars for a gorgeous dress she wear the next year.

the problem is not the markup but the profit margin. JCP has been loosing money on a Sq footage due to operating costs. The was a good article on MarketWatch.com. Explaining the decision to implement the new marketing strategy.

I wrote to customer service and complained about that commercial. I was told I was the only one to write? You have to be kidding me. I said I disliked it so much we were going out shopping and I would guarantee that we would NOT shop at JCP. I then wrote again to let them know we spent just over $400 on our shopping trip and not one penny was in their store because of the commercial they were running. Their loss, as it is a nice store, but they won't be getting my money.

Now me, I can not stand the stupid characters for all the insurance companies, The Progressive "Flo", Century 21, and the new Direct pitchman, "J.J.", the Geico lizard, and on and on..........
Look how well all that advertising worked because you sure remembered every company. That's exactly what they want.

How is ordering from a catalog better than ordering online? You clearly have the ability to go online because you're here.

Looks like we're all echoing one another on our likes and dislikes. I also dislike that latest piggy one and really couldn't remember what the heck they're advertising. JCP has a horrible commercial. It's not just our age because my dd and her friends (27ish) think it's horrible too. I did get an interesting email from JCP, it was a coupon I had to virtually cut around 78 times to get a handbag 43 or 83% off. 78 times. I. Did. Not. Do. It. Then hit continue and they had some other coupon, but it said sold out?
CTS, I just want to comment on your cancelling your card. You may or may not need credit but they say never cancel your cards, just cut them up, because it can hurt your credit. I just wanted to throw this in, in case someone didn't know.

I too will echo everyone's thoughts on the awful Penny's commercial. Also dislike the pig commercial.Don't know what he's wee weeing about anyway. Thought it was funny the first or second time around now just plain annoying.
About closing credit cards. I too thought that closing accounts can hurt your credit score, however before we went full time rving 4 years ago we closed 3 store credit cards and one Visa and kept only one Visa and one MC. It did not hurt our credit score at all. We had a pretty good score then and still do. Saw no reason to keep all those accounts open...
