To the op... it works until you get caught. Then it is expensive as heck. We are full timers and run a rather large business virtually. Still keep everything registered in CA to avoid tax audit issues. We could save several thousand per year by moving everything to another state but the penalties out weigh the benefit. As someone earlier noted what you are considering is fraud or tax evasion. It is a criminal penalty.

The bringing of criminal charges isn't limited to the State one's depriving of its money...
Oregon, a no-sales-tax State, has provisions that identify this practice as a Class A Misdemeanor and WILL charge out-of State residents if they're caught.
They also report the falsifier to their States of Lawful Residency AND keep whatever money has been paid.
Needless to say, there's a relatively low incidence of this kind of nonsense there.

Oregon DMV: Lawful Residency Can you explain why OR has far more registered boats, airplanes, motorhomes, etc than people.
Maybe the folks there enjoy adult toys more than folks in other states - (MT excluded) ..

I am a legal resident of PA but I have my 5th wheel, a boat, 2 other trailers, and a Polaris Ranger all licensed and insured in Montana. I keep all of these things in Montana year round, so I do not have the need for an LLC.
A nice thing about Montana is that they offer an inexpensive lifetime license for RV's and the recreational items like my ATV and other trailers that is good for as long as I own these items.
My insurance premium is higher in MT than it would be if I maintained these items in PA, but I couldn't insure them in PA since they do not reside there.

Er, no we are not. Some register in MT for completely different & legal reasons. In our case, we do not HAVE a home state.
Er, yes you do (have a home state, that is). Even if you left the US and were living, say, in Europe, you'd still have to file a US tax return if you had income from the US. Also, the last state in which you were domiciled might also have their greedy hands on you. Probably the only person who could state with near certainty that they were a US citizen and had no home state would be someone who took numerous steps to go off the grid, and since you're registered in MT, that's probably not the case. On the other hand, perhaps you're a Brit who owns an RV registered in MT; I don't think you would have a "home state" in that instance. But, I'm betting that's not the case LOL.

Did you happen to note the location for Veebyes?
"Bermuda and Maryland"!
Along with that, a search of the U.S. Amateur Radio database for the call sign shown results in nothing!
"Home State" for Veebyes? I don't think so!
