I am so lost, and am wondering if you or anyone here might be able to help. I have recently acquired a 33' Allegro Class that deparately needed some updating. I tore all the vinyl flooring (squares) and carpet out and thought I could just easily install some vinyl flooring. I have learned that I have a clearance problem (height), which I think I can deal with, but the bigger concern is what to do with the vinyl at the slide. I have cut the carpet back to the edge of the slide, but am concerned when the slide comes in and out that it will catch on the remaining carpet/padding under the slide that I cannot reach. I plan to put the new vinyl squares right up under the slide lip, but what do I do to keep the carpet from catching the roller under the slide. I am reading that some slides cannot accomodate vinyl and will scratch if it is not all carpet. Any thoughts or suggestions. I have also read that it is not necessary to remove the slide to install new vinyl, and the cost to do so is pretty ugly.
I would really appreciate some input. Thanks, Jon

Since you've already taken out the carpet, get a couple of strips of cheap vinyl remnants and temporarily install them in the area where the slide travels. Run the slide in/out a few times to see if there's any damage to the vinyl. If not, go for it. Removing the slide would be cost-prohibitive. You need to cut back the carpet as far as you can under the slide edge. If you can, try to grab the carpet and yank it out with some pliers. Have fun!
