Definitely going to get an Atwood On Demand Tankless Water Heater.

Being able to take a decent shower in the privacy of the RV ranks high on my comfort-meter. With the big travel plans for the next two years, this will be worth it.

It's not the hot water for us -- it's room in the gray tanks. We generally do not have hook ups, so it's Navy showers for us!

Happy Camping!

Has anyone used one of these things?

I noticed the ad was rather conspicuous by it's lack of any spec sheet. How much water does it heat, how fast? Temp rise @ GPM flow rate. Hook up requirements, gas line size and plumbing, compartment size, insulation, max temp, electrical requirements. A copy of the installation instructions and the operating instructions would go a long way to answer a lot. Many questions, few if any, answers. I don't buy a pig in a poke.

While in a site offering full hookup, it looks like dream come true.

You would think on a $950 unit the mfg might offer digital temp control, hence no need to balance the hot and cold. JMHO

I was thinking about the same thing, I did not know they made them that will fit the old water heaters spot, Do you know if these run off Electric and Gas...?? I'm ordering the tank water that runs off Gas or Electric or both, But I would love to have a Tankless if they run off both, This is a great upgrade.

Here is a spec sheet for one model....that will fit right in the place of the old tank model.
For those of you who are looking for more information.....
Clicky

But more expensive ($1054.00), and it appears that it's only LP....I think that an electric unit would require more load than most RVs are able to handle with 30A service.

There are some units out there, that will run off 1500Watt heater, so would work on the 30A service, if you don't run anything else.....but they aren't really designed for the RV, though you may be able to make it work??

The add for that Atwood unit seems to imply that it fits where your water heater goes. IMHO, it would be best if this could be added along with your water heater so you could still keep the the water heater for backup. Just keep the water heater turned off most of the time and use the Atwood instead.

I'd hate to rely on only the Atwood for hot water in the long run on RV trips. It's probably more complex than a water heater, hence more prone to failure and thus leaving you stranded if it should fail.

Our regular water heater is off most of the time. Never runs out when showering and turned on.
