I know that to watch different satellite stations on two TVs you need the right dish and a receiver for each TV. But how is the cable run to each receiver? Do you just use a regular coax splitter? a special splitter? something else? Thanks in advance.

Separate cables all the way from the dish to each receiver. Most satellite feedhorns have connectors for two (sometimes more) cables.

There are more complicated ways to do it (band shifters, etc), but it's a lot easier and cheaper to just run two cables.

...or a dual tuner DVR, eg: 722, with coax(SD) or HDMI (HD) to one TV and coax(SD) from TV2 output of the same DVR to the other TV.

The hitch there is that only one TV gets HD.

Non HD TV reciever you can use a splicer on a single cable from the dish to each reciever or from the receiver to each TV. As you know two TV's on one reciever will both get same station.

The Dish 500 or 1000 antennas have TWO coax connectors, one for each receiver if you are running two of them.. If you are running more you use a digital equipment switch This is not.. exactly... a splitter, but it performs the same function. (Completly different device internally, kind of like a network switch)

Some technology

Single: One LNB, One coax connection
DUAL: (Dish 300, DirecTV) One LNB, TWO coax connections, may be shared by two or more receivers.
TWIN: (dish 500) Two LNB's. two (or more) coax fittings
SUPER: (Dish 500 super) Two LNB, Two Coax out, plus one in, and a built in switch.
TRIPLE, QUAD, Etc, More LNB's.

I shoulder's have said splitter in my last post not splicer. I have direct tv satellite with a single objects . It has 2 cables running from it. I could run two non hd receivers off the single cable with a radio shack signal splitter.

I don't know about DISH, but DirecTV has their SWM system (single wire). I have one RG6 coming into my 5'er and run two DVR's, capable of recording 2 separate channels at the same time on each DVR (4 simultaneous). I also have their Whole Home system where I can watch a recorded program on one DVR on the other TV.
Nice set up and no new wires to run and again - ONE RG6 input from the Slimline dish.

We have a 322 duo receiver in living room. One wire coming into camper thru satellite prep outlet to tv one on receiver. Ran a jumper coax from tv 2 output on receiver to the cable outlet behind TV to back-feed to the bedroom. Works great. We have a dish 500. Steve
