We are planning on going full time, but not for about 4 years yet. Since I am unemployed and probably due to my age, the economy and amount of unemployed folks, the prospects aren't looking good for being employed. So, would it benefit us by my doing some type of volunteer work now or in the future. I noticed as well one job posting wanted experience with Campground Master Reservation software. Now is there some type of training one can do via internet or does one get the experience simply by getting a camp host position and it is on the job training? My work experience is vast ranging from an Office Manager to a Customer Service associate and nursery specialist at a big box store. I am just wondering if any of that will benefit me in our workkamping experience. If someone could bestow their knowledge I would greatly appreciate it. Obiviously I have too much time on my hands

Are you 62 years old? Check out early Social Security Benifits.
Do you have an RV you can use?
Living in Colorado would limit the availible workamping positions over the winter months.
Generally workamping positions will not pay your bills.
Campground Manager is only one form of reservation programs used. You would be better served to locate a position before devoting time learning a program you may not need.
Is your spouse/mate employeed and unable to travel to a workamper position away from your local area?
Just some thoughts and questions you may want to reflect on.

You state you interested in volunteering, that only requires that your willing to do or learn what is needed. We have volunteered at several state parks, USFS HOV circuit, a couple of USF&WS refuges and had no problem picking up the necessary skills to preform the required tasks. We have been well supplied with the educational materials need. The most important skill volunteering is a desire to work at the task assigned whatever that may be.

My DH is still working at his job and will be for another 4 years before he can retire. My thinking is that I would be able to list volunteer positions on our resume when we do go fulltime as a "work history". I am not necessarily looking to work in a campground at this point since it would just be me and like you say that don't pay the bills. Just trying to get some feedback as to experience needed to work kamp.
