Another quick check to see if an addon or toolbar has become corrupted which could cause Firefox to stall is to run in safe mode. Just hold down your SHIFT key while single/double clicking your Firefox icon. This should bring up the Firefox Safe Mode popup. Just click on "Continue in Safe Mode" button. Does it run?

I agree, Download FF 10 with the working computer, Then update your anti virus on the one not working proprly.
Scan for Malware, re-boot then either network copy or USB thum drive copy the Firefox Installr from working to not working.
RE-install, it will install over itself but you may be asked if you really want to do this.
Should work.

As good as Firefox can be, it is very "sensitive" and does some odd things. There are also some processes that it starts that it does not always shut down - and continues this way, even after shutting down the computer, etc. The best thing to do, as suggested, is to download a fresh new FF - save and don't install, completely uninstall FF, install the new copy. All should work then. When installing FF watch for unwanted things that it may ask you to install with it.

FWIW .. I had FF 8 or 9, heck maybe FF 10, don't remember, slept since then ... IMO it was a more problems then what it was worth keepin it functioning ... unistalled it and went back to 3.6, haven't had problem 1 with it. ST
