This thread COULD be a good example of why they get closed. One guy makes a spelling error and will normally get told about it by someone who disagrees with his post. The thread changes directions and becomes a defensive pissing match with no reason to stay open.
It's like a discussion in your living room. Often times when an argument gets going, it often takes a third party (moderator) to step in to calm things down.

Tom, you are not the moderator in question here. The one who originally closed the OP's forum was asked by the OP to do it. But others were still were having good conversations, but political overtones came into play then also. So closed it went quickly. This moderator does close topics more quickly than others.
I saw the message on the spelling and the reply, but didn't say anything because most of us knew what original poster meant and there was not a reason to correct any spelling.
Personally, I wouldn't do your job here as a moderator and you need to let us know sometime why you even do it. Now that would be a topic to start with

This was the Mods reason for closing that thread. Follow the rules and the threads will stay open. You have posted this "Closed" topic in, I think, 3 different forums, which is a violation of the rules. What is your plan, to keep posting this in a different forum, until someone agrees with you?
"The thread being referred to was political. Several of the most inflammatory posts were deleted and then it was closed.
The request by the OP that it be closed was insightful on his part, but the final decision was mine.
Forum Rules:
•Political and religious posts, pictures, links, signatures etc. are not allowed in these forums and may be removed without notice or discussion."

You had better look again My Roadtrek. I first saw it AFTER it had closed in RV Parks and Campgrounds. I posted one there talking about topics being closed. Then it was closed. So yes, I did start one here in the Tech Forum. So now where have you seen it in 3 diff forums or 3 started by me? I only opened one in this forum to have a discussion on why some topics are closed and the rules for having it done. That's why you have a forum. To talk. Believe me that I am in no way looking for someone to agree with me. It's a forum, and with forums you will get many different opinions. I just want everyone to know and understand why topics are closed.
The moderator on RV Parks has a history of quickly closing topics even when it seems rules have not been broken. But as a moderator, she has that option and power to do so. This is why I thought that this forum was better for this discussion, IF anyone wanted to join in and comment.

And that may be just the point. As I understand, MODS have no management authority of sub-forums other than their own. So you're likely not going to find answers to specific questions of how a thread is/was moderated from anyone other than that specific MOD. Have you contacted the MOD in question?
If you have an issue with a particular MOD, than you can always try contacting one of the ADMINS.

Good Grief....I'm Infamous!
This is the thread that was closed.
You then started THIS thread. Note: A PM with your concerns would have been more appropriate. Neverless, I took the time to answer your question and closed the thread so we that we could get back to the business of talking about "Campgrounds".
My reply was:
Quote: The thread being referred to was political. Several of the most inflammatory posts were deleted and then it was closed.
The request by the OP that it be closed was insightful on his part, but the final decision was mine.
Forum Rules:

This morning I deleted a NEW thread in the Campgrounds section telling members to see the "Closed Topic" thread that you had started here in THIS Forum Support Section!
Nuff Said!!

I do agree with your statement and stand by mine. We both have been here for many years and have seen a lot of issues brought up. As I said to Tom, I wouldn't have your job.
But I surrender and give this one up. I don't know why I even tried to help and get a discussion going on this topic. I understand why you closed it(politics) but oviously others didn't.
Hey Tom, why don't you close this one now? and we can go to bed and sleep good.
