Today my wife flew to Vancouver from Puerto Vallarta for 3 days. her name was not on the vehicle permit, but when she turned in her tourist card at the airport & they looked at, they said she had driven in and wanted to see the Banercito paperwork. I had to go back to Tachos and retrieve it. Fortunately we arrived at the airport 2.5 hours before the flight. They would not give her a boarding pass until they saw it. That did not happen last year. I know there has been some speculation on whether you can fly home temp when you have a vehicle in Mexico on a 180 day permit. It looks like it could be an issue. I am still not sure if they were concerned about the vehicle or whether the money had been paid for the tourist visa or both.

By the time I got back with it all they had relented and given her the boarding pass.

Snow River: I had posted about 5 months ago that there might be a problem as the paperwork is linked. Some of the regulars insisted there would be no problem. I think if the car papers had been in the name of the person wanting to board you would not have received a boarding pass.

It has nothing to do with the TIP.

All FMM's must be paid for before leaving the country. So you MUST bring your FMM with the banjercito receipt when leaving the country.

We fly every year with no problem but they always insist on seeing the receipt.

I came in by land in December and flew out from GDL about two weeks ago to Puerto Rico. I turned in my FMM no problem. I can't recall if the FMM itself was stamped by the Banercito when I first crossed, but clearly I didn't have the banercito reciept. The RV stayed in Mexico. (I am back now).

Not meaning to totally hijack the thread, I do have a question thought when getting the new FMM on my return to GDL by air, there was no discussion about it having to be paid for or anything like that when arriving by land. Is there a difference? Am I supposed to pay for it someplace? Will it create challenges when I leave by land?

On edit, and thinking about it some more, when arriving by air or cruise ship, it may be that the airline or cruise line pays for all departing passengers, so my FMM, since now it shows arrival by air and a flight number, may not be a problem.

My guess, and it is ONLY a GUESS, is that when you got your TIP, you got, and paid for, both FMMs at the same time, all
on the same bill, so a vehicle would show up linked to both FMMs.

Wandering Mike: I did as you did 4 yrs ago with no problem when I left via MH. When you fly in the Airline pays for the FMM. Have a look at yours and see if it looks different than a land transport one. If it looks the same, take your boarding pass and or your electronic ticket print out with you to the banerceijo when you leave.

Apparently they are different. I already established earlier this year that it is technically illegal to fly out leaving a vehicle with 180 day permit in Mexico. That makes having something like a class C or A with a 10 year permit an advantage. I have come across 2 Truck Campers who have managed to get a 10 year permit. I may try my luck at that next year by using the on line registration. It is not a problem since only my wife flies out & i make sure she is not on the TIP, but in future i would like to come down earlier & return over Christmas.

You are correct. Oddly enough as I mentioned, they let her through anyway by the time I got back. They had no way of knowing if her name was on the vehicle TIP that I am aware of. What it does indicate is that there is probably has been a memo at some time about checking for it

I am hoping there is no problem when I turn in my TIP that is attached to the FMM that I received when we drove into Mexico in November. I flew home for Christmas and when I turned in the FMM on departing they wanted the receipt for it. Fortunately I had it with me. I have made copies of the first FMM and have my boarding passes that I may have to use when we depart in March. Will just have to see how it goes.

You need the FMM you received from the airline. Not the boarding pass and not the copy of the first FMM you got. That was cancelled and a new one was issued.

True, if you did something illegal, my guess is you will get away with it. play ignorant of the rules if they question it. Crossing at Lukeville the receipt for the tourist card & car permit was on the same sheet, so they know you have vehicle left here. If I recall they end up separate in Nogales, so that may make it easier.
