Planning a trip from Des Moines to Sadona, Moab, and back home via Denver. It has been a long time since traveling from Glenwood Springs to Denver and I forget how aggressive the incline is to get to the pass. I have a relatively light 2011 Triton V10 motorhome and pulling a 3K toad. I'm concerned this might be a "not the brightest idea" thought. Any comments or past experiences on this route and what I want to do?

Just keep it in the lower gears going up hill. And, the lower gears coming down.

Hi,

My buddy's 460 gas V8 outruns his neighbor's 425 CAT powered class A going up the hills. I see no problems with the 300+ HP gas engine making it over the grades with the car in tow.

Dozens of similar rigs drive that section of I-70 every year.

Your gasser will lose about 4% power for each 1000 feet elevation unless turbo charged. Two passes in there are about 11,000 feet. I know of people who unhook their toad and drive that separately but if you know that your power will be diminished just take it with patience - and same gear down as going up!

I-70 not that bad of a road. Oh sure there are a couple of noteable grades. You wont be the first over the hill but you wont be the last either

Thanks for all the good advice! I'll just see how it goes, and could always unhook and drive the toad.
