Does anyone here on the forum own a late (2011 or 2012) GM (Chevy or GMC)dually with 6.0 gas engine? I know that they are dealer order items and not usually stocked at the dealer lots. I like the idea of stability of duramax dually, but I am not very thrilled about new emission issues with DEF, DPF, HPFP failure problems I have been reading about. If any one of you currently own a dually with gas engine, please share your experiences.
Thanks!

I was at two other GM Duramax forums, and at first it appears that Ford PSD had HPFP failures reported with some of the owners being denied of warranty repairs. Then, I read about a couple of GM Duramax LML owners reporting similar failures and I think they are related to fuel contamination (possibly with water) and/or poor U.S. diesel fuel quality leading to HPFP failure (from what I understand). There are some debates on the different forums about whether to add additives or not (a controversial topic) as a preventive measure. At least GM appears to be repairing failed HPFP under warranty.

I think you're going to be disappointed between a heavy truck and a high revving engine. Even with a 410 your limited to 13k vs 22k for a diesel.
The emissions stuff isn't that big of a deal since the mileage will be better.

Yeah, I ordered mine. They had a gasser on the lot but it was a WT model. I've always ordered my trucks to get what I wanted.
BIL has a 6.0 Ford - $5k in repairs last year. A frind has 07 Duramax - repairs not sure of cost but measured in k's. BIL is a diesel mech. I don't want the cost or hassle of the diesel reliability. My old 97 454 has 205k and the biggest repair was a intake manifold gasket, fixed it myself. Less problems with it's predecessors.
When you have to buy urine to put in the vehicle, no way.

I have SRW 6.0 and I like it. My trailer will be a bit over max but I know what the 6.0 is capable of. Dad had 6.0 '04 model and used it to pull cattle trailers weighing over 20k. And that's a 3/4 ton lol. You might not get there as quick but you'll make it. It's camping though, who needs to be in a rush?

Never have understood why someone would buy a "big" truck and get such a "little" engine...

Well it's all the emissions******and HPFP failures that are choking modern diesels to 400HP and almost 800TQ.
who would want to put up with that when you can get a gasser to scream at 4000RPM and churning out 7MPG.

Anyone simply spewing "Durrrrrr, get the DIESEL!" should write a check to the OP to cover the cost!
