Has anyone tried the new dometic digital thermostat, I just installed the hunter, but don't like the fact that the low battery light flashes all the time, and that the red wire is not connected.
I would think that the new dometic thermostat would be a direct wire in?
I found one for 34.99
Thanks

I haven't tried the Dometic but why is the low battery light flashing if there isn't a low battery And regarding the red wire not being used - what difference does that make??? Mine has been that way for 13 years and 2 trailers

Did you install a new battery?
Did you install it the correct way?
Did you use a small pin and push the reset?

It doesn't use the red wire because that is the power lead to the thermostat and the Hunter is battery powereed.
Put a fresh battery in.

My Hunter uses two AA batteries. They are a tad bit loose; I have to shim them a bit to keep them tight in their slots. Remember, the Hunter was not built to be mobile - so some adaptation may be in order. Mine has been very good about batteries; they will last a year or more. One quirk is that if the batteries do go flat dead, the system will keep on doing whatever it was doing when they went dead. If the heat is on, it will keep heating, etc.

I've had a Hunter in my Starcraft for around 2 years and only replaced batteries one time. I would not have had to do it then if I had removed the batteries in between trips. Low battery never flashed, it died when we weren't using the trailer. Before replacing thermostat, the AC could barely keep the trailer cool in the summer, but after switching, the AC kept the unit cool with no problem. The difference was that there was so little temperature change in the cycling of the AC.

The battery's are new, and it still flashes low battery, but works fine?
Maybe I need to reset it?

Thanks

If the battery warning light is flashing and the battery is new and good, I would think the stat is bad or like you said Coop, needs a reset...

clicky Link
I wonder if it will control the high low fan speed.
I like the hi/low feature that I added to my digital using a SPST switch.
Agree with others...change the batt. reset it and forget about the red wire. If you really hate the red wire...cut it off.
