I have blogged for about eight years now about Q and what we have found. as we boondocked over the years in the LTVA BLM areas. Also much about the gem and mineral club that we got involved with. If you have the time... I've got the blog content.... enjoy.

We really enjoyed Q this year. Not sure how it compared to other years, but we had a good time and will stay at least for the craft show.

Quartzsite is like a Woodstock for RVers. Picture a quiet little town surrounded by thousands of acres of acrid desert. Flat, hot and dusty. Sort of like you've seen in thousands of old Western movies. Now picture thousands of RVs descending on this sleepy hamlet, occupying all the surrounding landscape with hundreds of thousands RVs of every size, color and shape. Picture 3000 ATVs ripping up and down every wash and gully. Picture a huge circus style tent with thousands of people wandering around looking at products of every size taste and style for your RV. Picture hundreds of acres filled with shantys filled with swap meet type stuff you can't live without. That walking stick you've always wanted? 4 bucks. That outdoor mat you couldn't afford? 25 bucks. Want a winter hat that looks like a racoon but with the gloves attached like really long ears? 12 bucks. Need advice on which tow bar to use? The mfgs are there to answer your questions. Going to the Good Sam Rally in Phoenix in March? Sign up there and save 30 bucks. Get the idea. It's our Woodstock. Camping on BLM land cost you 40 bucks for 14 days of dry camping. You meet new friends, and reacquaint with those you met last year. It's like a reunion of old friends but open to anyone who wants to join in. You can have as much space as you like in the desert. Neighbors too close? Move a mile away....

BTW...the main show was Jan 21-29th so you just missed it. We just got back to Mesa. Was it a ZOO ..sure...did we have fun....yup..did we buy stuff...yep some we needed and some we simply wanted. Bought some nifty mirror covers in the form of American Flags...8 bucks for the pair...there's a gem and rock show coming in February but it's not anything like the Q for RVs. Experience it once in your lifetime......Dennis

We just left yesterday after our third time there. I am still trying to figure it out. Maybe it will take a few more visits. Meanwhile time to get the dust off the rig.

LOVED Quartzsite. the camping situation, not so much lol Couldn't find a place away from everyone. They just kept on movin' in lol Maybe it will take us more than one year to figure out how to get away and really boondock. I was dry camping, but next to other people with generators. still loved Quartzsite and will be back

We went once wife hated it and was in a bad mood the whole time we were there.
I found it interesting.

We won't be going back, But I may.

My folks went just after they retired many years ago. Mother told me at the time "it's something to see but I don't need to go back".

Quartzsite is to RV's like Sturgis is to motorcycles. We just came back from an extended weekend there. Our third year, we stay in town in the middle of the whole mess.....We love it. We will be going back next year. You can shop until you drop or you can find a corner to sit in and people watch.
