I went to IKEA today and found a maple cuttingboard that is the perfect size to cover the stove top. Doesn't slip but I put a piece of drawer liner under it and nothing moves or rattles. $9.99. Fantastic!

Good idea and a lot cheaper than what you'd pay for a designated cover. More versatile, too! When we had our little TT, we paid $40 for a 'cover' (piece of plastic with non-skid backing) from CW.

Can you post a picture? I keep looking for something that will work to cover ours. Love your idea!!!

Met someone tailgating that installed Corian counters. He gave us a sink cutout that makes a great cover & cutting board. I screwed some oak strips turned on along edge to raise it up off the burners.

We bought one from Camping World a few years back that fit the stove top perfectly. Of course, we paid about 4x what you did! Still, it's a nice upgrade to get rid of the noisy metal cover and create useful counter/work space.

We did a similar thing for the sink. Our MH has corian solid surface counters and sink. It came with matching corian covers for the sink, but we didn't want to cut on those covers. Local grocery store (HEB) had "rubberwood" cutting boards for about 5 bucks each. Minor trimming and routing and they fit perfect. Don't know what kind of wood "rubberwood" is but seems similar to bamboo.

We did the same thing, an oak cutting board with two strips glued to the sides to keep it up off the burners. You now have additional counter space for many items, most times the microwave is used to heat/cook food so the stove top gets rarely used.

I understand the desire to cover your stove on a regular basis. Our covers are integrated into the countertop for both the stove and sink but we leave the sink cover home as we never had a need to cover it. We often cover the stove to place a rubber dish mat & rack when washing dishes.

In the picture the 2-piece stove and 1-piece sink covers are placed on the bed, but typically stored behind the stove top in that slot. They drop in over the stove and sink for a flush surface.

I see IKEA has several listed on their website like this

and more on their website.

With IKEA it seems what is in one store may not be in another.

Good Idea using the cutting board for a cover, if your not going to use it for cutting you could stain to match you interior woodwork and clear coat.

We use a piece of white UHMW (doubles as a cutting board)as a cover when stationary for more counter space but UHMW is slippery (think like Teflon).

Looks like I will be going to IKEA with the other half....that always ends up costing me a lot.

Don't accidentally turn your stove on!

I've always thought that a wood cover on top of a stove is a horrendous idea. All it takes is one little mistake and your coach will be up in flames in a heartbeat.

The arrangement that ron.dittmer has pictured above is ideal. At least the stove knobs are covered with the burners so that the cover must be removed in order to access the knobs.

If you insist on putting a wood cutting board on top of your stove, please take some sort of precaution to prevent the stove from accidentally being lit off. Remove the "spark" knob, or cover all the knobs or something, but please don't assemble an unnecessary campfire in your coaches' galley.

I had a piece of thick tempered glass cut at my local glass shop the same size as the grate on my Suburban stove. They rounded the corners and edges so it is not sharp. I epoxied some rubber strips to the bottom so it does not slide around. We use this surface for food prep, etc., and it is easily cleaned with a quick shot of glass cleaner. At the very least, if one of us accidentally ignites the stove with it in place, we will just have hot glass versus a major conflagration.

For cutting, we have a wood cutting board that is the same size as our sink. I think it is a heck of a lot safer having the cutting board on the sink versus the stove.
