Planning a trip this year to Yellowstone, etc. Need a campground in or near Denver for a night or two. Would like to see Rockies play while there. Is there a campground within easy driving distance of Coors Field that's you would recommend?

Does anyuone know if Prospect RV Park is operating?

Thanks for any help.

Colorado State Parks have 2 spots close to Denver. One on the Southeast and Southwest sides of teh city.

Cherry Creek State Park

Chatfield

Colorado State Parks Website

Both have FHU sites available to you and really nice.

We stayed at Dakota Ridge for a few days. Seemed like a nice park and we had no issues and would stay there again.

if you want to see the mountains, Chatfield state park may be better than Cherry Creek. You will be right up on the foothills.

This one is near a state park but not in it. Its farther away from the mountains.

This one is closer to town. I've seen it coming out of the hills but never stayed there. Its not a bad drive from Coors unless it's rush hour.

Our favorite has always been Golden Clear Creek;

Or Jefferson County Fairgrounds;

Only 15 minutes from the Ballpark.

We travel to Denver nearly every year and have stayed a number of places. Our favorite is Cherry Creek. It is well located, well maintained and a great casual campground. We also take in a Rockies game when there and normally drive in to one of the many train stations that take you within a short walking distance of the park. Most nights the majority of riders are going to the game. Great evenings, especially if the Rockies win.
