I am considering getting a portable waste tote and I am not quite sure where I would store this while traveling and I am looking for suggestions. Our TV is an SUV so storing it in the TV is out. We do not have a ladder on the back of the TT. Not sure if it would be an issue to store it in one of the exterior storage compartments or not. So I am just curious if anyone has any suggestions on where to store this should I purchase one.

Thanks

Wouldn't store it (even empty) in a storage compartment. Summer heat and decaying waste produces gasses that can expand, bloat the tank, and leak into your RV. I've seen many of them on racks mounted on the rear bumper, or have added receiver with one of those hitch mount racks. Good luck!

you normally use these for GREY water as that tank fills many times faster than black tanks. grey water is almost 100% soapy water and if you rinse the tank at the dump station, they dont smell.

Barker Tote Alongs (the best tanks!) can be had with mounting brackets for the rear of your rv.

We have a truck so it rides back there, but when we had our pop up, we had a smaller one and would put it right inside the door of the pop up while traveling. As another stated, we only used it for grey water so there was no smell. We would take it out once we got to our destination.

You don't say how big a tank you're considering, but if it's not too heavy...
If your TV has a roof rack, you could carry it up there.

Thetford makes a grey one that wouldn't be as conspicuous as the blues you see around. Folks would probably think it was a luggage carrier!

I can't take credit for where I store mine, another member posted pictures of an excellent idea of storage. Under the RV, between the two I- beams. Installed two strips of flat iron, held in place with bolt with holes and cotter pins for easy removal. I also added a couple of heavy duty bungie straps for added security. I only use my 35 gallon tote once or twice a year and this set up seems to be a good solution.

we stored ours under the 5er next to the spare tire. Never used it. Carried it to drain truck oil into, just in case I couldn't find a Cat dealer.

With no rear ladder I suggest build a rack for: underneath RV, on rear bumper of RV. Or on roof of TV.
