I just ran across an ad for the RV Trip Wizard, which is a web based product. It can plan trips and lists (with photos) all campgrounds, private and government. Annual rate is $37. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I saw the RV Trip Wizard at the Tampa show and spoke with them for a while. They use google maps and overlay many types of POIs, campgrounds. It is customizable based upon on rig size for route planning, also it is supposed to be easy to set up secondary stop points along a trip. The finished trip plan can be downloaded into a Garmin, but not a Tom Tom yet, or use on a tablet/laptop. The programers are RVrs.
Very interseting, I have not purchase yet, but I'm going to and try it out.

Thanks for the input. It really sounds interesting to us also. May give it a try.

Well for free you can just use Google maps. Select an area and then type in what you are looking for.
It provides links to the places it displays. If you spend some time playing around with Google maps you'll find out some neat stuff. I use the satellite view to look at campgrounds so when I get there I have a good idea of what's available.

I have not found any product to beat Miscrosoft Streets and Trips (current year). It costs about $39.00 per year and is easy to plan trips. You can print out maps and route plans. It has a great data base of RV parks, fuel stops and points of interest that are updated every year. It will interface with your GPS or if you purchase the $79 version, you get a USB GPS receiver.

Microsoft Streets and Trips is still the best product that I have tried. I just took a look at RV Trip Wizard and did not like it. I'm hoping that a better product is produced soon. I'm not thrilled with any of them. I would like to see a really good PC based system developed for RVs that is loaded with features. It seems like each product has its good points but not all of the points.

We plan on trying the demo version a little later. I am sure no product is perfect. We're just looking for something a little more animated than a book and most information located in one stop. Maybe its too much to ask for...."picture books" are more fun!

I also saw this product at the RV show in Tampa and they gave me a discount code to enter for the first year price, my first hint that things were not going to go well was the code did not work, but it was not that much and I thought the product a good idea, so I tried the 15 day trial version. After playing with it for the complete afternoon yesterday, I found it to be difficult and was loaded with state parks. If you know exactly where you what to go it may be useful but to plan anything I found it useless, and now the fight is on to try and cancel the order before they charge the credit card, there is no place on the web site to do this, I will call them Monday, if you order please watch carefully for how to cancel, my mistake. I believe this product to be a waste of money and a way to hook you in to bill your credit card of $35+ each year and just hope you will not take the time to cancel.

Raymondfl - Thanks for the information. I was tempted to sign up for the 15 day trial but having to go through canceling the order if I didn't like it was a deal breaker for me. I figured that I wait and see what other people thought of the service. Sorry about your experience and I hope that you get a refund easily. I've been making my own maps with Google. It's a little time consuming but they work very well.

Can anyone fill me in on what exactly this new technology is?
Where would you buy this?
