Anyone have an A Liner and have you ever had a problem with the welds, especially on the tongue failing? I have a 2004 Sportliner and as yet have no problems but have done some mod's that have placed added weight on the tongue. Just wondering if anyone with an A Liner has done the same and if any weld problems arose because of it.
Thanks.

I have a 2004 Aliner DL (Classic) and moved the battery from inside to out on the tongue several years ago. This plus adding a Thetford cassette toilet under the front bench puts a little more stress on the tongue but so far I have seen no signs of any problems. I do try to load the heavier inside items toward the rear to reduce hitch load a bit.

Thanks, I did some extensive rebuild on the inside front, added some weight and then just recently moved the propane tanks forward to the tongue jack and added two 6 volt (very heavy) batteries behind them. I think I'm gonna take it to a welder and have the tongue beefed up. Getting ready to sell the Wildwood TT so this will be our camper from now on.

Never heard of any problem with tongue welds. Some have had frames bend on the right side at the axle mount.
BTW, it is Aliner (one word), not A Liner, A-liner, or any other mutation.

Yep, Aliner is indeed one word but if you look at rvtrader.com it is spelled A LINER and I have also seen the other versions out here in the cyber world. The spelling error is certainly not unique to this forum.

I see it incorrectly spelled often. But I think someone that owns a 2004 Sportliner should know the name. Just trying to help.

Like one said, it's been spelled both ways but correcting my spelling of ALINER doesn't really do much to answer the question does it

I had the bearings go out on my 1990 Aliner in 1999 while traveling cross country. When the rollback driver winched the tongue down, he put a little too much pressure on the tongue jack. He cracked some of the metal up there in the process. I ended up straightening some things, welded up the cracks, and added some reinforcement at the bottom of the tongue around the jack.
One of the things about the Aliner is it uses box tube for the framing. This is the strongest type of frame.
