We spent four days boondocking and shopping at Quartzsite last week. We had a really good time. The big RV show ends this weekend, so if you can you should drop everything and make the trip.

Nice report, Mike. Having stayed many winters in Yuma I know that the wind can blow, sometimes for days. Wears you out after a while. Glad to hear your solar did well in overcast skies.

Do you think Q is worthwhile just to camp in the desert, even if one doesn't like crowds or shopping? Or are there better places just to boondock?

I prefer to boondock a couple miles from Bouse off Plomosa Rd. Fewer people and much quieter but a quick drive to Quartzsite when you want. It's a different BLM ranger district so there are no camp hosts to register with.

Great report Mike. I spent one day there last winter and that was plenty for me :-). It is something everyone needs to witness though :-).
The heading photo on your blog, where was that taken? Looks like a nice place.
Thanks for your efforts.

Looks like a good bit of fun. I think I would want a inverter genny though, I don't mind the noise out by ourselves but around all of those campers I would feel bad about running the Champ.

I think we would have gone this year as we are slow work wise till the 15th. Unfortunately the 1000 mile drive is a bit much for the other half.

Sure, it's worthwhile to camp there, but I probably wouldn't want to stay there more than a month. It's a pretty cool experience being at Quartzsite. Everyone should try it out and see if they like it. Hundreds of thousands keep coming back every year so it must have some appeal.
