Great post Mike! We want to do Q next year...Will be the first time. Maybe a RV.net Tc get together there could be in the cards. That would be fun.

That could work for us. We stopped there a few years ago but before the crowds and vendors. I kept meeting Canadians that said they were on the way to Yuma.

Yea, and maybe we would finally meet!

Yea, been talking with a key board for the last ten or so years. Heck I might even install some of the solar panels I have had in my garage for the last 25 years. I am sure I will have a few gliders with me so we can get some stick time in. My set of cattle dog hellions could use some talking to from a mature lady like Molly.

It's funny you mention that. I've been thinking about organizing a TC Rally in Quartzsite next Winter. I wonder how many RV.NET members would be interested in that?

I can't imagine what it must be like in Q with hundreds of thousands of RVs in the area. Instead I went to Death Valley, Valley of Fire, and Mojave Preserve. All of those areas are virtually empty. I just dont understand why a bajillion people want to "camp" next to each other in the middle of nowhere. I camped in the middle of nowhere with great, great scenery. In Mojave I camped next to the Lava Tube. No one was within miles of me. Very beautiful and peaceful. A day or so later I went to the Kelso dunes. One RV was nearby and a handful within a couple of miles.

I also spend a couple of days in Lake Havasu City. It simply amazes me how social a species we are. Somehow we like to crowd together even in the ugliest of places. Thank God for Quartzsite. Apparantly that sucks in lots of people and leaves some beautiful areas for me to visit without the crowds.

LOL, I have to agree. We went there for the big RV show and to shop not to boondock, though that was real nice to do so close to everything. But I'm with you. I prefer solitude and peace and quiet when I boondock. You don't get any of that in Quartsite.

I had thought about going for the rock show but was too late. Then I thought about a drive through just to see it. Instead I am doing my drive through (and overnight) at Slab City. This is weird enough for me. The wind storm and cool weather is about over so it is about time for my first visit to Joshua Tree.

Just got back from Q and had some fun... took a ride on a power-chute (3 wheels,2 person with prop under a large air foil) over Q at about 1,000 feet from the little airport just west of town. The went to to the balloon festival up at Lake Havasu city (abpout 90 miles N). Finally went up in one...bucket list I guess. Boon docked at ScaddN WAsh and LaPosa south for a month. This is our 4th year and we feel like we know the placew well.

You have to try it.... great fun
