Congratulations on the Holiday Rambler. Its vintage status will bring many questions; however this forum, in my opinion, provides a wealth of helpful information.

Welcom to the site the only thing I know about your unit is that tag axel. You will be spoiled from here on out. Your next one will have to have it. I cannot believe how much that tag ad's to the ride.

Does your HR look anything like the one below? I think they are great coaches that were made to last. Put up a post anytime you need some help.

Congratulations. Post pics when you can, I think the older HR's are the nicest looking motorhomes ever built.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Congratulations Its nice that these vintage coaches are rolling down the road, instead of rusting down in some scrap heap.

And with the low cost of ownership, you'll be able to put a lot into her to get her looking shiny and new again. Check you tires over really closly, look for the date code, and make a decision about changing them out if necessary.

Course, you'll have to tackle that brake problem quickly, as you can't drag your feet to stop it

I am sure you will love it an I look forward to seeing some pics in the near future.

Happy Trails

As far as the brakes, the fluid is likely shot. Fluid absorbs water, and since most used coaches sit a long time before they are sold, it would be no surprise if things were pretty gummed up. Fluid should be changed periodically anyway for that reason.

Second thing to look at is the adjusters in the rear. The adjusters on old drum brakes will stick or possibly the lever will get bent and not work. Once you go through and replace all the fluid, if that doesn't resolve it, you should pull the drums in the rear and inspect the adjusters, and everything else for that matter.
